But what does heartburn feel like? I've never had it before but I'm 12 weeks pregnant and last night and this morning I've had a terrible pain in the middle of my chest, just under my ribs, like a stabbing pain that comes and goes every few minutes.

Also I feel quite nauseous which I think makes the pain worse, but then that in turn is making me feel even sicker! Just had some Rennies so hopefully that will help, but I just wanted to check that this does sound like heartburn before I start to panic!

Not sure what you mean by under your ribs. For me, heart burn feels like something stuck inside my ribs at about boob level.

Did the rennies help? I find they're only effective if you catch heart burn quickly.

If heartburn being upright and rennies will help and certainly I had terrible heartburn early in pregnancy.

But it tended to be constant rather than coming and going, and uncomfortable rather than terrible, so I think you should give your midwife a call. I have recently had gallbladder problems (not pregnant now) and that did make me nauseous with terrible pain under ribs.

Well I vomited the rennies up a little while after posting this and I've had diarrhoea a few times now. I've had a sleep and still don't feel right so I think it's probably time to call someone!

I found liquid gaviscon far more effective than tablets. But that does sound like heartburn.

Yes I found it quite alarming in pain level, I hadn't expected it. I went to A&E because I was so alarmed and they told me that out of hours would be better (at that hospital, it was just in the next room.) OOH told me to take some gavisgon and come back in three hours if it wasn't working. It worked.

Bertiebotts that's the same as me, I just hadn't experienced it before! I spoke to my midwife she said it's probably just a surge of hormones and everything shifting around. I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow anyway so I'm just going to drink plenty of fluids and rest today and hopefully see/hear the little one tomorrow for the first time!
