Hi all, recently posted about breech baby. Had a scan today to check position and baby has moved back to transverse. Doctors want to admit me next week if baby hasn't moved due to risk of chord prolapse. I'm fine with that as better to be safe. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of transverse babies? It's very uncomfortable!!

Hi op my baby was in the transverse position from very early on and didn't move. However I opted for a elcs from the beginning.

My DD was transverse and oblique for almost all of my pregnancy. It was pretty uncomfortable - you have my sympathy! She was delivered by ELCS. One thing to watch out for - I assumed the pain under my ribs on one side was to do with positioning when it was actually a sign of preeclampsia. So don't dismiss anything as being just uncomfortable because of the position and get checked if you are at all worried. Sounds like you will be closely monitored anyway but better safe than sorry!

Thanks Amelie and Fizzy.
I'm being monitored for preeclampsia already as blood pressure keeps rising but I'll keep a look out for that. Rib pain was bad when baby was breech as his/her head was right in my ribs - seems to have passed now.
Was there ever found to be a reason with either of your babies as to why they were in that position? X

No, just an awkward bugger Grin ! I wanted an ELCS anyway due to serious fear of vaginal delivery, so I like to think that she knew and was determined to help us achieve it! She did move about until fairly late on and ended up coming out feet first, according to the anaesthetist.

Baby has moved back into breech position! So no need to be admitted & section put back a week. Feel pretty anxious that he/she could flip back to transverse in the meantime Confused given that I didn't feel this switch
