Scan picture, can I already see a penis?!

It looks like there is a penis already visible on my 12 week scan, can anyone else see it too?

I'm not expert but I'd say that's part of babys' leg.

That would be a mahoosive foetal penis , seriously that's probably a leg/part foot.

That's the nub, the bit which forms genitals. Also agree it looks like a girl nub

The sonographer said it was a new machine sweet, I had a look at my scan from 2 years ago and that was not nearly as clear.

It's quite clear for a scan but at 12 weeks it looks like a genital nub and to be honest as far as I can see it could be boy or girl.

There is a group on Facebook called strictly nub theory and you can upload your pic there and have loads of people tell you what they think. I put mine on and everyone said boy. Everyone was right

sunflower i also agree the strictly nub theory group are fab, there are other groups too but the nub theory is very accurate (but not 100% obviously so if you want a surprise there's also that element of doubt!. I posted my 12 w scan up, got 37 girl guesses, 3 boys, I'm having a girl .

Also posted a really poor quality image of my son 3 years ago, i ddin't have a clue what I was looking for back then but everyone guessed boy. x

Thanks for the recommendation! I've posted on there. I used a different pic to see if it gets different opinions, so far 2 are saying girl and no votes for a boy. I'm still not convinced but it would be lovely!

sunflower ahh that's cool :-) i wasn't convinced either as to me , my 12 week scan looked like a boy nub when i was first looking at them, but they were all adamant it would be a girl , as I'm consultant led I've had 6 / 7 different confirmations of girl now without even asking the sonographers!

there are some exceptions to the rule but the majority have a distinctive shape by about 12weeks 3 days.

my OH is pregnant at the moment too and I'm desperate to know what sex the baby is, unfortunately her 12w scan pics were crap and the baby's legs were in the way, only another 6 months to wait as she doesn't want to find out lol.
