Heartbeat stopped on trace. Worried

Hi everyone. I have been in hospital for 5 days due to my baby's movements being less and anxiety about it so i will be staying here until my baby is born. Anyways today i had my daily ctg & I didn't really feel baby move so I told midwife and she told me i was fine & it clearly shows my baby is moving. Then just before she took it off my baby's heartbeat came off the screen and sounded like it stopped, im not sure. I told midwife this but said all was fine and was just loss of contact. I will have another ctg at 5am and i have felt baby move since then. I'm just terrified to go to sleep incase something happens to her while i am asleep,so looks like i will be staying up all night. I know I should trust the professionals but i am so concerned. Im 35 weeks btw.

What use is staying awake all night worrying going to do you. The best thing you can do right now is get some rest, confident in the knowledge that your baby is in the safest place possible.

Now get some sleep!

Ive had loss of contact a few times on ctg it happens if baby kicks it out of sink or if you move and sensors move. Trust the midwife if she says it's fine. I get anxious too so I know how hard it is but do try and get some sleep staying awake won't help it will just exhaust you. Xx

I just feel like this place is driving me crazy and making my anxiety a lot worse! Doesn't help that my baby's movements have been reduced either. I'm just gonna try go sleep knowing my baby and i are in the safest place possible. Anxiety really is the devil . Have a really irrational fear of waking up & not feeling my baby move ever again & it all just have the worst outcome. Ughhh

It's horrible to have such anxiety. How're you feeling this morning love?

OP I saw your other thread too, sorry your still having such a rough time. Have they done a Doppler scan? Loss of contact is so common, it's just baby moving around as the monitor makes a sort of noise to them so babies move in reaction to it, try not to worry if you can

Oh that all sounds really horrible! I'd be anxious too but at least they're keeping a close eye on baby.

Has there been talk of delivering the baby early?

This is very common, the baby moves out of the way and the heartbeat can no longer be found so it goes silent. It's really nothing to worry about.

However I had similar issues with my last baby and he would go 9 hours without moving and I was in and out of hospital from 32 weeks with this and they did a scan and he moved his arm so they stopped scanning. I repeatedly told them something isn't right!! But they said they couldn't see a reason for him not moving for hours and hours. I think they got sick of me so induced me at 37+6. They decided to keep me on the monitor during the labour as I told them from my last trip to hospital for monitoring until then he was still not moving properly. As soon as my contractions kicked in his heart rate was dropping a lot!! I had doctors in telling me I needed a section and I was only 2cm!! I told them I was sure I did not and there must be a way around this! They told me to lay on my left side and it made no difference so I tried my right side and his heart rate stayed good. His cord was compressed and when laying on my back or left side this put pressure on it and had been for a while which is why he was not moving!!! So I spent a full labour on my right side or standing up leaning forwards. I did give birth vaginally and he's now 20 months old. He does not talk so we are having this looked into but besides that he's fine. I say trust your instincts x

Hi everyone. I tried to get some sleep although did stay up most of the night worrying. The 5am ctg was fine & she was wriggling about everywhere. Although i am a bit worried as they are only supposed to monitor me twice a day & today they have come in every 2 hours. I asked midwife if there is anything wrong. She said theres not so just abit confused really. I have a scan this week so hopefully all is well. Was supposed to be induced at 37 weeks but my consultant decided we should try let baby cook as long as possible, so i will just be watched very closely and if theres no problems i will go to my due date. So another 5 weeks in hospital,i really hate this but aslong as they are keeping an eye on my baby I can't really complain.

I'd be reassured that they were monitoring me every two hours. At least you can 'see' that baby is fine then.
I'd probably be pushing to be induced too.

I am feeling a bit more reassured today but its just the anxiety that gives me these negative thoughts. Thing is with dd, she is very sometimeish so somedays she will be wriggling and other days she'll be very quiet, so i don't want to be induced if shes not ready to come, i'm split. I try to trust my gut but with my anxiety it mostly hasn't been right so i'm just gonna let them monitor my daughter and i know if anything changes she will be coming out very quickly as this is a good hospital and they do act quite fast here. Any tips for getting through this long hospital stay though?? I've barely been here a week and i'm already starting to feel depressed.

It's very easy to become quite institutionalised quickly during a hospital stay, I don't know your circumstances but I would advise if possible going off the ward for a walk between being monitored as much as you can, get as many people to visit you as possible, read a good book and try not to concentrate on every aspect of your care - easier said than done.

I meant obsess over results/blood pressures etc, obviously do concentrate on your care

Think i will do that. I just have no energy to do anything, feeling quite depressed. When i speak to my community midwife i will be mentioning this to her and maybe i could speak to a therapist of some sort.
