Would you buy the Baby Bjorn original carrier?

Hi all

I'm starting to get together a list of baby equipment, and looking for the general consensus on the baby bjorn original carrier. I've read various things about it not being good for the hip position of babies, though perhaps this is only relevant after a certain age.

It does seem, though, that lots of people still have and use them (I see lots on the streets of london!).

Is this a carrier I should be avoiding altogether? I know there are other options, but this is one I have my eye on, so wondering what the wider view is / whether it's a known fact to avoid?

Many thanks!

No I didn't buy it & it looks so uncomfortable.

I got a Caboo for the first 6 months, using newborn hold then either had DS facing me or outwards.
Then I got an Ergo 360 & it's so comfortable, front facing, on your back, on your hips.

OH even likes it & he whines about everything.

Hated it. Uncomfortable and killed my shoulders. With DS1 I switched to only using the Moby when he was small, but got an Ergo for DS2 which has been amazing and still in use at 12 months.

Thanks all - really helpful advice. I think I'm due a trip to the sling library but will look into all your suggestions.

I love this video for lots of reasons but one of them is how even simpler a wide based carrier is than the bjorn and other high street carriers.

In terms of comfort (and maximum weight limits) I think there's no competition between them.

I had a Bjorn original and used it until my DD was around seven months old, it has done a fair amount of damage to my shoulders, and really hurt my lower back. I decided to buy an ergo360 after a bit of research and my DD is so much happier in it. I can carry her around in it with no back pain whatsoever and she is now 16 months.
