Don't feel pregnant

I'm just over 5 weeks pregnant with my first baby and have know for just over a week. All last week I had cramping and bloating and felt pregnant. Now the cramping has stopped and I don't feel pregnant anymore. I don't even know if that makes sense! I've had no bleeding or anything but as this is my first pregnancy, I don't know what's normal! I'm terrified of having a MC. I took a pregnancy test again yesterday just to make sure and it's still positive. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Be thankful, really.
I think my morning sickness kicked out at about 6 weeks, so, enjoy this time.
No tender breasts?

firefly23 · 09/10/2016 09:01

Yes, my boobs are really tender! I was just concerned that I don't feel anything in my abdomen anymore Hmm

Congratulations on pregnancy!

I am 6 weeks with my second, with my first I had time before 8 weeks when I didn't pregnant then boom I would be so tired that I couldnt speak.

This early in all you can do is look after yourself. Good food, rest etc. book your 10 week midwife appointment in a few weeks.

There are some really good pregnancy apps. That give the week by week progress. At 5 weeks I think that the embryo is about the size of a sesame seed.

Lweji · 09/10/2016 09:06

The boobs were the main sign for me during the first trimester. They went up one or two cup sizes. :)

And the sickness, but it wasn't too bad.
You don't want to feel cramps at all.

SharkBastard · 09/10/2016 09:07

Enjoy the calm before the storm. I didn't feel pregnant till 6+6 then BAM sick everyday and I'm 12 weeks today...still feel like shit! Can't wait to feel OK again

Aderyn2016 · 09/10/2016 09:09

You could ask your doctor to refer you for an early scan in about a weeks time (they can pick up a heartbeat from 6ish weeks). If they agree then make sure the scan is one where they use the internal probe as it is better in early pg as it is closer to the baby. When I was pg I was unsure of my dates so had a very early external scan and the sonographer pushed so hard on my tummy that she caused a haematoma and I nearly mc.
Mostly, I think that all you can do us wait and see and remember that not everyone gets full on pg symptoms. Some women sail through and feel great. It doesn't necessarily mean that something is wrong.

firefly23 · 09/10/2016 09:32

Thanks guys. I don't really have anyone else to ask because we're not telling anyone until we've had our first scan. It's reassuring to know that some of you have had the same. I'll probably be sorry when I start throwing up next week!

I had absolutely no symptoms (aside from no periods and positive tests) until 15 weeks. Hugely anxiety-provoking at the time but in hindsight I was bloody lucky!

ConvincingLiar · 09/10/2016 23:24

With my son I had no symptoms until ten weeks but even that wasn't classic sickness etc. A lack of symptoms is not a problem. I'd be surprised if you could have an NHS scan in the absence of some real red flags. Good luck!

firefly23 · 10/10/2016 05:15

I agree, having no symptoms isn't a reason to get an early scan unless I pay for a private one.

I'm more reassured having read that others didn't have symptoms too.

Take a clear blue test that tells you how many weeks preggo you are - it measures the hormones going up so in a healthy pregnancy you can see it go from 1-2 (3-4 weeks) 2-3, (3-4
Weeks) to 3+ (5 plus weeks).

Also take a first response test and you can see how dark the line is. If you take a couple days apart you should see the line keep getting darker and eventually darker than the test line.

Weetabixandtoast · 10/10/2016 05:33

Ps if the line is faint or getting darker then you know it isn't s healthy pregnancy. I've had a few early miscarriages and mine always started with loss of symptoms. Hoping it's not the case for you though.

Lweji · 10/10/2016 08:27

But you do have symptoms. :)
Just not what you expected.

I'd be worried if you were still feeling crampy, actually.

You just need to wait.

bluebirdx · 10/10/2016 09:53

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and all the way through I haven't had any symptoms (other than sore boobs at the very start), I still don't feel pregnant, (well most of the time), and haven't felt pregnant the whole way through.

Only time I feel pregnant now is when the baby kicks, which I have only just recently started to feel Grin

I would count yourself lucky, like me. Some women really do suffer.

Nikki2ol6 · 10/10/2016 10:00

With my pregnancies Iv alwaysvstarted to feel sickly in the evenings in the 5th week then began vomiting in the 6th week. But everyone is different and some don't get symptoms

EsmesBees · 10/10/2016 10:07

Totally normal at this stage! Have a look at people at a similar stage to you on the June thread and you'll see others are in the same boat.

Hi All,

I really need advice before I send myself crazy , I did a home pregnancy test which cam up with a very faint negitive line (if that's even possible) my boyfriend told me to re take a test in a few days which I have done and now I don't know if seeing things or if I am actually pregnant! I have attached a photo please let me know if anyone else can see a faint positive line or am I looking for something that isn't there!

Thanks

Thanks everyone. I feel more reassured now.

Anna, it's hard to see in your photo but might be worth retaking in another couple of days. Good luck!x

Aderyn2016 · 11/10/2016 08:11

Anna, I would buy a test that says 'pregnant' or 'not pregnant'. I think Clearblue actually tell you the number of weeks pg. It might be more reassuring. I cant really tell from your photo, sorry. Hope you get your desired result.

Ashmumtojack · 11/10/2016 08:49

I'm in the same boat. I'm nearly 7 weeks pregnant with baby number 2. This time is totally different from last time. I was sick as a dog from about 5 weeks with my son but this time I'm not having any symptoms at all apart from sore boobs occasionally. Might still be early days with the symptoms but don't know whether to worry or count my blessings!

firefly23 · 11/10/2016 10:19

Esmesbees- where can I find the June thread please? I'm new to Netmums and have done a search but can't find it. Thanks!x
