Idle curiousity really

I am sure (in fact I know for a fact) that I was bigger at this stage with ds (my third) than I am now with my fourth. I carried him very low and all at the front - my bump was enormous by the end but you couldn't really tell I was pg from the back IYSWIM.

This bump is neater and I am carrying much higher - which I think is a little strange because I thought it was all to do with stomach muscles (or lack of) and I certainly haven't been working on them!!

I have 4 boys and they were all pretty different bumps. 1st was very 'all around' and very high. Had lots of heartburn with him.2nd one was very'upfront' and low and very neat. Didnt have any sickness or heartburn. 3rd was kinda upfront and middley and the 4th again quite low and I was gigantic by the 7th month and realy realy waddled towards the end. Just goes to show when people say'oh your carrying low must be a girl/boy etc how wrong they are.

LOL at all 'conurbation' and other large comments.

With DS, 6lb 13oz, was neat and didn't need maternity clothes until about 5 months.

With DD, 8lb 12oz, and quite long, was massive and needed maternity clothes from about 12 weeks. Although I was measuring the correct number of inches for weeks when being measured by the MW, the bump was 'wide'. Had a lot of water with her tho, it kept gushing/trickling throughout most of the 3 hr labour.

Don't think there is any truth in the old wives tales re the bump shape and size being related to the gender - it obviously depends on the weight, length and position of the baby.

i always wondered on the myth of how your carrying to the sex of the baby. i can't remember when i started showing with DS1 as i ate alot and so was most likly fat first, i was huge and felt it but i was alot more comfortable than i am now. i'm 33 weeks on saturday, have a MW app. tomo, at last scan at 28 weeks was told that he was a week bigger. i'm very neat with this one and had a bump at about 18 weeks, its starting to get annoying how many people have said," oh your carrying well, just a nice little bump" but i can feel EVERYTHING, every little kick and rolling over!! i so hope the MW says his not too big and is head down!! DS1 was 8lb 13oz and 2 wks early.

HUGE with first pg (dd) and now 39 weeks with a ds and much smaller (a football shaped lump rather than a general whole body swell!!)

But it may be to do with having lost 2 stone after pg1 and the fact that I have an 18 month old to run after this time and don't get any lounging time!
