Elective c section-choosing date?

Hi,

I am due to meet with my consultant next week (I'll be 34 weeks pregnant) and that's when my elective c section will be confirmed (emergency c section last pregnancy due to preeclampsia and failure to progress after induction).

I'm just wondering if anyone can shed any light on how the date process goes i.e will I just be given a date and have to agree to it, or will I get some say as to what suits me. I know it can't work like that completely but just wondered how set in stone they are with dates or if they're flexible Hmm

At the consultant appointment I was told they try to get it as close to 39 weeks as possible. They didn't give me a date there and then but I was told to expect a text at 38 weeks. I've just received it and have been given a date and time. The date will make me 39+3. I just had to reply with my name to confirm acceptance of the appointment. There was no mention in the text about how to cancel or reschedule.

Hi all,

Thanks so much for responding with all your experiences, I've been to see my consultant today and the c section has been booked! I'll be 38 weeks exactly, and was basically given the choice of the whole week leading up to when I'll be 39 weeks!

Feeing very relieved/happy/excited now Smile
