Trace- how did I miss this?

It's one thing after another isn't it? I hope all goes well today and I'll be checking in to see all is well later.

I'll be thinking of you today and awaiting your update.

Chin up chick, you're a very strong lady and pg has thrown some challenging things your way. This, I hope, is just another challenge to get over and leave behind. We're all here.

xxx

hi every one i promised i would update you best i could so here goes!

had a long talk with consulant, she gave a diffrent veiw once again from other consulant,it could be chromosomal or congenital abnormalities. been offerd amio again but weighing the pros and cons as ive had m/c and 40 and over weight plus i have a blood problems my risk of m/c after amio is very high, i dont think i could live with my self if i m/c! they said i even if i had amio it may not show every thing up, so its to much of a gamble.

they have said i will be closely monited now, as she also may stop feeding any time,so giving me extra scans to check this out, but at the moment she seams ok we will have to wait now until shes born so got a bloody long wait ahead of us. if i change my mind over night i can go in tomorrow and they will do it(but dont think i will be).

i also today have started my clextime injections today and done my self.

and thank you all for thinking of me!

trace2, thanks for the update, have been thinking of you today. The news is not bad, obviously from my experience with close friend I have to say, be positive, take each appointment at a time and always look for the good points. My friend had all the same warnings and as I've said, she has a healthy beautiful dd, they never did get to the bottom of Why there were only 2 vessels but they appeared to do the job just as well as 3 in her case. Good Luck. xxx

trace2 · 01/02/2007 20:14

thank you it was yours and two other which made me think about not having amio

Trace, just wanted to wish you all the best for the next few months and I'm sure everything will be fine for you both.

Good choice of name btw

Piffle · 02/02/2007 10:24

Trace, really am hoping everything turns out ok for you
totally understnad your reasons for not having an amnio as well.
Hope the extra checks reassure and show all is going well.

pussinslippers · 05/02/2007 10:17

Hi Trace2, just come back on this thread and wanted to say I've been thinking about you. I hope things go well. It's such a long wait from the 20 week scan to full term, isn't it?

I remembered something that we were told -- a single umbilical artery may be more common than was thought in 'normal' babies, but in the past it was generally only noticed at birth if the baby had obvious problems (whereas now the ultrasound picks it up anyway and worries us).

We were told the main problem might be placental insufficiency and lack of growth (I suppose you don't have the backup of a second supply line, or something?), and that was actually suspected near term, so she was induced. In the event, she was over 8 lb and is now the biggest in her class, so thank goodness something slowed her down...
All the best!

mears · 05/02/2007 10:27

Trace2 - sorry to read of your worrying scan. I just wanted to let you know that as a midwife, when examining the placenta post delivery, I have often seen only 2 vessels in the cord. This is an incidental finding and the babies have all been fine. We let the paediatric staff know when we do see this and the babies are reviewed. I just wanted to let you know that I have seen this a number of times with perfectly normal babies. Obviously there can be an underlying reason but it is rare. Hopefully you will get reassurance as your pregnancy progresses.

wishingchair · 05/02/2007 14:54

Trace2 - just wanted to add that my friend (also 40) had only 2 channels in her baby's cord and was counselled about risk of chromosomal problems. She decided against the amnio and her baby was just fine. Hope you're doing ok x

trace2 · 06/02/2007 09:33

oh thank you you are all making it more bearable waiting now! i know there still is a chance there is some thing wrong, but we are looking on the posative side, due to them finding nothing else wrong woth her and all yourgood posative stories, thank you
