Second trimester - feeling so much better I am worried!

I am 14 weeks today and suddenly feel so much better. No sickness, so much more energy. I know the 2nd trimester is meant to be the best, but do the symptoms really stop that abruptly? Am being typical anxious 1st time mum and this is likely to be my only chance and I am freaking out. I shouldn't have googled. So much stuff about missed miscarriages when symptoms stopped suddenly... Hoping someone can reassure me. Please? Wish I had my own little ultrasound machine at home!!!

Thanks! X

Hey bella

I'm 17 weeks and after my 12 week scan was told by the midwife that unless anything happens, to assume everything is ok.

You'll feel movements soon which is always reassuring

Whatsername17 · 03/08/2016 21:11

You could get a doppler? Let's you listen to babies heartbeat. The second trimester is better but you might find your symptoms come back. Try not to worry in a few weeks you will feel movements!

Bellabelloo · 03/08/2016 21:12

Thank you both. A Doppler sounds interesting. Any recommendations? X

I was exactly the same. I hated 12 to 20 weeks between the scans and then waiting to feel baby move. I would have gladly had the all day nausea back.

I am now 34 weeks and am watching my whole tummy writhe.
I know it's really hard but try not to worry too much.
For you really are concerned give the maternity unit a call. They were brilliant when I got food poisoning and had a panic.

All the best. Wink

Doublecarrick, I know I need to chill. It's been a long journey to get here (found out I had cancer while trying to conceive, then had to wait 5 years and was told chemo had left me infertile, did one round of IVF which is all we can afford and medically all I am allowed to do)....so there's a lot riding on this!!! Confused Although I know everyone goes through the same worries.

My midwife said the middle bit is the easy part. Enjoy

I have the angel sounds one bought from amazon. You have to start really low on your tummy. Where your public hair ends kind of low. Use lots of gel and be patient. Took me ages to find this little wrigglers heartbeat. It's a lovely feeling though.

Bellabelloo · 03/08/2016 21:50

Fab! I just bought the angelsounds one. I'll get it on Friday. Thanks so much for your help and advice. I will report back....

I hope it kicks in for me soon!! I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and still nauseous, tired and grumpy lol!! In all seriousness though with my dc1 I lost most symptoms about 13 weeks, just woke up and didn't feel pregnant anymore!! Completely panicked thinking the baby had died but all was fine ( she is now a happy, healthy 18 month old!) enjoy feeling better and be excited for start of your baby movements and getting fat 😁

Bellabelloo · 04/08/2016 20:08

Thanks Eastcoastmum! Hope you feel better soon too. X

I have my Doppler!! And assuming I have picked up the baby's heartbeat and not my own, I am feeling more content and confident. Thank you. X
