Uterus still in pelvis at 14 weeks when should I panic and push for help

I'm 13+4 and my uterus appears to be stuck. I had my dating scan two days ago and it is completely in my pelvis still. I am having pain in my lower back and have had a bit of stabby pain in my pubic bone. I'm also having some issues going to the loo. If my bladder is very full it is hard to initiate urination and I feel like I'm pooing in instalments rather than being able to go effectively. It is particularly painful as pressure builds when I need the loo. I know from previous scans and surgery for miscarriage that my uterus is quite retroverted, and I have had an emcs so have some abdominal scaring that could have caused adhesions. The sonographer recommended I see my GP but they can't see me for two weeks unless it becomes urgent, they seemed most worried about urinary infections. I have left a voicemail for my midwife. I am panicking that after two miscarriages I have a perfectly viable baby and don't want to risk the pregnancy by not pushing for help soon enough. I am also aware that I am likely to be worrying a lot because of my two losses and that I am making a fuss over nothing.

If you have got this far, thank you. I would really like to know if anyone has had this and what did you do, what advice were you given, and how did it resolve? If you haven't been here, what would you do? Am I being irrationally panicky or should I push for advice now?

I'm sorry I don't know anything about your issue but if you are panicking then push to see your GP asap, don't worry about being irrational, hope you get some responses here from people with knowledge of what you're experiencing xx

You're doing the right thing. Perhaps can you call the early pregnancy unit at your hospital for advice?

Book an emergency GP appointment, you don't have to tell the receptionist what for, just book one that day.

Definitely ring and say you need an emergency appointment, it isn't worth the risk! I wish you all the best OP

Did your sonographer tell you your uterus was stuck? I'd be surprised if they gave a diagnosis like this and then didn't call in a doctor to speak to you and assess the scan before you left. I'm sorry you are feeling worried, sounds like you should speak to someone about your concerns - how about calling the early pregnancy unit on Monday morning?

Thank you all for reading and responding. maddie no the sonographer didn't use the phrase stuck. She did comment that it was entirely in my pelvis as it was very hard to get images. It was also discussed as I had a scan with a feral medicine consultant at 10weeks and he had highlighted it in his report. She advised me to see my GP, so I assume not too urgent in her mind.

The midwives listen to the answer phone messages at 8am and work their way through them so I am waiting to see if I hear back from them.

If I don't hear back my options are to push to see a GP, or the delivery ward. The early pregnancy unit only deal with pre 12 weeks here.

I have been trying to find guidelines on how late is ok and when the risk of waiting makes intervention the best option. Unfortunately as it seems uncommon there don't seem to be guidelines (I have previously found rcog green top guidelines reassuring as they give evidence based guidelines) but rather case studies. From the case studies the conclusion seems to be that early management (manual manipulation of uterus) has less risk of bladder damage or pregnancy loss.

I know I need to step away from google. I just want some reassurance.

Right take that paper to your emergency GP appointment and let them know about your adhesions. Ask to be referred to the obstetric consultant. This may not be your problem but you're presenting with those symptoms from what you've described. Good luck and be pushy (nicely of course!)

Donyou have an out of hours service!? I might be inclined to ring them today if you're experiencing difficulties passing urine

Could you try a walk in GP to get seen asap instead of waiting?

Mine was stuck in my pelvis for ages as well (retroverted uterus), but by the time of the second '12' week scan at 14 weeks, it had popped out.

See your gp as an emergency appointment, but I'd also be chasing your midwife for a consultant's appointment.

Thank you all for your encouragement and for sharing your experiences. I finally have an update but I have had to fight my corner to get advice/help.

The midwives never got back to me so I rang the maternity assesment unit. I spoke to a very nice (but I suspect very inexperienced) midwife. As expected she focussed on bladder and bowel issues and recomended I saw my GP. She also said that, as South had, I should have been automatically had a repeat scan. I pushed that while I would like those issues addressing, they were secondary and that to me the primary problem was the uterine possitioning. She still wanted me to see a GP urgently.
I spoke to a triage GP who said it wasn't urgent and that they didn't normally make obstetrics referals, those should go through the midwives. Again she was very helpful and listened but I felt like I was a ping pong ball. She wanted me to persevere with tring to contact the midwives (we only have an answerphone number) I did, but obviously couldn't talk to them. Eventually GP agreed to book me in to see someone and finally last night I saw a really nice GP. She located my uterus in my abdomen! I was very uncomfortable on Tuesday with alot of pain and things have been a bit different since, less back pain, so I had suspected that it may have finally moved then. She used to work in the maternity assesment unit and was happy to speak to them.

From the research I have done (pubmed not google), if you do have a uterus entirely stuck in your pelvis then it is worth persevering to get either a repeat scan or regular abdominal examinations until it has moved. There does seem to be a threshold for when manual repositioning is successful so it is worth pushing to see an obstetrician if it persists beyond 14 weeks.

Luckily for me the best case scenario of it self resolving has happened. My bladder is still 'upset' so I am haveing to monitor bladder output but I think it is getting easier.

Mine was stuck at fifteen weeks and meant I couldn't pee, so had to go to A&E, it flipped up and the popped back in, so I was back in A&E a week later, when they emptied my bladder it eventually popped out properly and stayed out. Wasn't a fun experience, keep an eye on bladder function, it's the only advice I can give. I just got up in the night for a pee and tried for 45 mins and nothing was happening even through I felt desperate and was in pain.

I had a horrible internal to check it had.flipped out and my bladder filled up with 1.5litres of fluid, Had to wear a catheter for a week.
