4 weeks pregnant - blood - someone please help

Good morning all.
So I found out 10dpo I was pregnant after getting a very faint BFP on a FRER. I continued to test every other day to ensure the line was getting darker - which is was ever so slightly. Last night, I did a test (it had been around 3 days) and it was VERY faint, almost as faint as my first BFP. I'm only 4 weeks and 3 days pregnant going off my LMP, however this panicked me (I know it was night time but I thought it would still get darker despite not being my FMU). I don't know why, but I decided to check my cervix. There was slight traces of red blood. And I mean slight. I haven't bled out as such. I am officially 3 days late for AF when I found the blood. It's now the morning after I found this blood and I've checked my cervix again (sorry TMI) and it's much the same. Me and my partner are devastated and convinced this is a CP or a miscarriage :( my GP has told me to wait another week and test again and see what the bleeding is like then. Can anyone shed some light, provide some reassurance? I feel like it's too late for implantation bleeding. This is my second pregnancy and it didn't happen with my first, I never bled at any point. Thank you in advance.

If it's only blood your getting it should be ok. I had spotting for around a week at 9 weeks, but it was nothing, I'm 22 weeks now and baby has been fine at all the scans.
I also had a miscarriage at Christmas and that was lots of blood (like a period) and cramping pain, so have experienced both.
I can't help you on the test front as as soon as I get one that says pregnant I stop testing.
Try not to panic (easier said than done, I know!). It sounds normal to me, if it gets worse or you get pain then you should probably speak to your doctor again.

I would gently suggest that you stop "checking" your cervix, as doing so could be the cause of the small amounts of bleeding - from an irritated cervix rather than anything more sinister. There's nothing to suggest that you're having a miscarriage, as some bleeding early on can be normal.

The doctor is right in that there's nothing else to do other than wait and see. Try and stop doing tests frequently too as this seems to be fuelling your anxiety. Maybe decide a day next week to test again and then wait till then to test.

I had spotting and small amounts of blood for weeks in early pregnancy, it stopped eventually and my DS2 is now 5 weeks old and asleep on my lap.

If you can afford it, go to a private clinic and get a beta HCG test then another one 48 hours later. You would expect your HCG to have doubled in that time if the pregnancy is ongoing. If you are in London this place pregnancytestlondon.co.uk/ does the cheapest tests I have found and you get the results the same day. I bled bright red at 5 weeks so I know how scary it is. It doesn't necessarily mean you are miscarrying and is not uncommon.

Thank you for all your inputs they've all been so helpful and reassuring. Is it common to have bleeding on your second pregnancy and not you first, and for all to be well? I won't be testing again now until next week as I've officially ran out of tests and you're right it is making my anxiety soar. Fingers crossed.

Every pregnancy is different eharc. I had bleeding last week and had a scan and all ok. Now 13 weeks. With my first no bleeding at all.

Also stop testing! I know it's hard but it does not help at all. All I have done since my initial test was a test last week after bleeding which the GP suggested I do. That's all.

I have to say I know people want to know as early as possible but I do think sometimes it's better to know later on. I had a miscarriage in March and it happened 2 days after my period would of been due. If I hadn't done a test on the day it was due I would never have known and just thought it was a late period. Sometimes ignorance can be bliss!!

Quick update - the bleeding is much heavier than before, not majorily heavy but not spotting either. Think this could be a chemical pregnancy as it feels like AF. Thank you for your messages. Devastated to say the least, think I'm out :(

I'm really sorry. Is this your first (known) pregnancy since your first baby?

I had a similar experience - positive test, but period/early miscarriage at just under 6 weeks, but got pregnant again on my very next cycle, no bleeding and she is sitting here demanding toast.

It's emotionally draining, and you might decide to take a break for a couple of months after this. I hope you are doing okay.

Thank you icanteven. Yes this is my first known pregnancy since my last. I'm getting slight cramps too that feel like AF. Just so upset as my sister in law is 20 weeks and showing, and it's going to be so hard to be around her and not be jealous. :( sorry to hear about your miscarriage x
