How pregnant am I?

Hello, I'm really quite anxious so please bare with me.

I got a positive test today (first test I've done), and AF was due last Saturday. If counting from then, I'd be 4 weeks and 5 days.

However, I know full well I didn't ovulate until a week after my predicted ovulation, due to numerous signs.

I have a history of repeated losses so I'm scared that when they send me for an early scan, they won't see anything because I'd be a week behind! When my Midwife asks when my last PERIOD was, should I tell her the truth but also say that I don't want an early Scan for when I'm technically 8 weeks because I'd be a week behind?

I don't want to freak myself out if the scan dates don't match my last period as I know it's not accurate

When you ovulate doesn't change your due date or how many weeks you are. These are based solely on the first day of your last period and cycle length only.

You will get s dating scan somewhere around 12 weeks when you will get s more accurate due date based on babies size.

In my area you don't get an early scan routinely and it certainly isn't compulsory. So just wait until your 12 week scan, as most people do.

But if I ovulated earlier; surely the baby would be bigger and measuring further along?

Also, extra scans are compulsory here if you are a high risk

Have you explained all this to the dr? I'm sure they would be amenable to moving your appointment back by a week en if they think it's just to ease your stress? Just talk to the GP surgery

Don't listen to Fate, they're wrong. Of course if you ovulate late and have a long cycle your baby won't measure properly for the dates of your last period. I track my cycles fairly closely and had to go for quite a few early scans because of bleeding, and each time when we went into the scan room I would say to them, 'I know my last period was on X date, but I didn't ovulate until CD 21 so I'll be measuring smaller than expected'. That would usually be met with a slightly amused expression and a 'let's just see what the scan says, shall we?' And each time baby would measure perfectly for my dates

Fate is wrong and describing a low risk norm. I was high risk with my second and they absolutely listened to me about ovulation and scanned accordingly. I was right and measured bang on for ovulation. My period date was misleading. They planned care accordingly too.

I haven't actually spoken to a midwife yet/booked in, I'm frightened I'll Miscarry again! But I know this isn't the way to go and I'll be ringing up on Monday.

I have a related question.
To get the number of weeks it really Is from your ovulation date - do you just add two weeks? Am I being stupid?

what I thought was my period turned out to be implant bleeding as I was scanned at "12 weeks" and was actually 14 1/2 weeks.

Ime it's difficult to convince people to use anything other than lmp. I had IVF so knew exactly when conception happened and had a due date from my clinic based on that. My GP couldn't get his head around it. I ended up making up a lmp date that was 14 days before my egg collection (equivalent to ovulation) which gave the right due date. It ended up being very important as the baby was growth restricted so the point at which she was better off out than in was carefully assessed based on her size, condition and gestation.

euro so should I be very cautious of gestation because of this? There earlier I would've ovulated is the 9th of this month. I was due to ovulate on the 30th of May!

Just to say if you have repeated losses make sure they are investigating things as it could be vitamin deficiency or you may need aspirin or clexane. Better to get these sooner than later. Good luck xx

How far along would you be when you go for the scan, based on your own workings, not LMP? They can see evidence of pregnancy very, very early and a heartbeat can be seen as early as 6.5 weeks with an internal scan. I've got my fingers crossed for you, I suffered 8 losses before getting my 2 beautiful DC

fabulous I'm not sure they will agree to look into it. I've only miscarried twice and they look into it after the 3rd loss.

I've had a chemical but that doesn't count
