No pregnancy on ultrasound

Hello,

Last week I was admitted to hospital with cramps, I had positive tests and hcg showed at 540. I thought i was 5 weeks calculating from my last period however they could not see anything on the ultrasound and diagnosed me with a PUL I went back 48 hours later and my hcg had risen to 1900 but I'm freaking out still and I'm worried there's something wrong. I have another scan in a week but the waiting game is so worrying. Has anyone else gone through the same and had a positive outcome?

What's a PUL?

FayeElizabeth · 02/06/2016 19:13

A pregnancy of an unknown location

Oh that is worrying. Do they suspect ectopic? Or at five weeks could it just be very difficult to scan? Did they do an internal?

fuzzywuzzy · 02/06/2016 19:15

What sort of ultra sound did they do? I had a vaginal ultrasound at five weeks and we saw a definite baby then.

You could have ovulated later than you thought.

FayeElizabeth · 02/06/2016 19:23

They said ectopic is unlikely but their not ruling it out, they did vaginal ultrasound. They said it looks like it might be too early
And I'm not as far along as I thought. To be fair I bled on the 28th of April which I thought was implantation bleeding but could of been ovulation bleeding. I didn't get a positive test until one week after my period was due.

They didn't see a sac with me till 7 weeks, if that helps put your mind at ease.

MadameJosephine · 02/06/2016 19:30

Your hcg levels are reassuring, an intrauterine pregnancy should cause hcg to at least double in 48 hours but generally an ectopic pregnancy causes it to rise more slowly so sounds to me like you are just very early on and so difficult to see anything. Fingers crossed you see more at your next scan Flowers

Scarydinosaurs · 02/06/2016 19:31

HCG levels are the most important thing. Crossing fingers for you.

When is your rescan? I had a scan at six weeks and they found a heartbeat- I really hope your next scan is more successful.

FayeElizabeth · 02/06/2016 19:43

My next scan is in one week. This is my first pregnancy and it's all very scary. I'm trying to stay positive but I'm so scared and worried. Confused

Do try to be positive- at five/four weeks it would be so hard to pick anything up on a scan. Your best indicators are the HCG levels- and they are good and going up!

Fingers crossed and thinking positive thoughts for you.

Keep busy - easier to say then do!! Flowers

Stuffythedragon · 03/06/2016 19:46

I was told that no sac is likely to be seen until the hcg is roughly 1500.

It's doubling nicely which is a good sign :)

CarrotVan · 03/06/2016 20:37

I had a scan at 4+5 when my HCG was over 1600 and also got a PUL on the scan. They could see the gestational sac but because it was so early there was no yolk sac and they need that to confirm. I'm going back at 6+6 and if it's ok I should see a yolk sac, foetus and heartbeat.

Basically a PUL is normal at that stage

DuckWaddle · 03/06/2016 20:40

I had the same with my first pregnancy- I had some bleeding so had a TVS and they couldn't see anything. It was so stressful. My hormone levels kept doubling too. I had a scan a few days later and they could see the embryo sac and now my dd is a toddler! So I hope the outcome is the same for you

Just thought I'd let everyone know the good news. They saw my little bean yesterday and the heartbeat flickering away. I was over the moon. Panic over xx

Scarydinosaurs · 10/06/2016 20:06
