How will I know if the baby has turned?

I'm 30+4 and the baby is breech. There's still time for her to turn but if she hasn't by 36 weeks they'll book me in for a section as they can't try to move her as I've previously had a c section.

This is my 2nd child and my first was breech too so I don't really know how it would feel different if she was head down or what it would feel like to have the baby turn.

Anyone able to offer some insight?

I had a dream that I was giving birth. Not very scientific but my subconscious must have been trying to make sense of what was happening inside.

Ds turned by himself at 38 weeks. Woke me up in lots of pain. Thought it was the onset of very sudden contractions. Eased off after a few minutes. I then felt heavier in the pelvic region iyswim.

I had dd turned at 37 weeks. Very, very uncomfortable procedure.

Both turnings were painful. So I suspect if baby does turn of their own free will, you'll know.

That's interesting. Are you still pregnant now? Did you feel kicks/movements in a different place once the baby had turned?

Also, did you do anything to try to get your babies to turn? I can't do anything too extreme because of my previous scar and I'm also at risk of premature labour so wouldn't want to set off contractions but anything that can gently encourage her would be worth a try.

For some reason my baby's don't like being upside down!

I had it confirmed at my next midwife appointment. The baby is nearly twelve now so the finer details of my pregnancy are fairly hazy now. I certainly didn't do anything to help the process. I was just glad it finally happened.

You could try spinning babies to see if any of the positions would help turn your baby? Or acupuncture? Supposedly it's good at helping to turn babies. I don't know as mine wasn't discovered until 41 weeks and she was manually turned.

Trust me you will know! DS was breach at 37 weeks then turned spectacularly in the middle of the night - my tummy felt like a washing machine and it was enough to wake me up!

I'm 34 weeks and baby turned overnight a couple of days ago. I didn't feel it happening but woke up in the morning and immediately felt different when I got out of bed - much heavier (and more uncomfortable) at the bottom of my abdomen. Coincidentally I had a midwife appointment that day and she confirmed it. I didn't do anything in particular to shift baby but I'd spent all day on my feet the day he/ she turned and had done massive amounts of walking. I'd say keep as active as possible, and I hear crawling on all fours a few times a day can help!!

I had no idea DD had turned. She was breech throughout, and I had a scan which confirmed when I went for my 36 week appointment. I was called back in the week after to make an appointment for a c-section, and my OB looked at me and said 'that baby has turned'. She scanned me and was right! Didn't feel a thing... DD was 8 1/2 lbs at birth, so how she did it I'll never know...

Dc1 turned at 34 weeks and I felt every turn- it was like period pain for a day or two and I felt like I carried differently after. Dc2 turned at some point between 30 and 34 weeks but I didn't feel anything. Her movements were always erratic and I couldn't tell she had moved.

I tried to encourage the turning by sitting on my birthing ball (makes you sit upright and not slouch back) a lot or on all fours, ie anything to get gravity to kick in. I don't know if it had any impact but they did both turn so it might be worth a try!
