Emergency scan and got shouted at by other patient

Just off loading as think will still cry if try to talk to someone in rl and still at work.
Had to go up to mat unit due to reduced movement yesterday, still had a struggle finding everything on trace or what they call the band that goes round you so took me along to scan straight away, thankfuly all ok, but as was going in this woman started shouting how this was her fucking time and she was first and had stuff to get on with.The mw said about how clinic has to deal with emergencies too, but when i came back out to wait for my notes she was still throwing such horrible looks at me. Feel quite pathetic now for not standing up for myself but think would have just still been a big mess. Not really looking for anything back, just writing it down I can see that she might have own fears and shouldn't take it personally.

Brilliant news that everything was ok - I've had to go in after reduced movement too and I know how utterly terrifying it is. I think you're right that maybe the other lady has problems with anxiety - I do, and find the wait for scans unbearable. Or maybe she's just not very nice! I do think they sometimes need to have separate waiting rooms for those having regular low-risk scans and those who are there for an emergency/potentially bad news.

Thanks, trying to think like that and remind myself how lucky we are to have access to all this equipment with modern medicine. I especially love the term ' fuckbadger' and that has brought a smile to my face- think still full of adrenaline- I'm currently wondering about downloading one of these Doppler apps for the iPhone, or are these just gimmicky?

Glad everything was OK in the end. I would be very wary of using a Doppler (not convinced that an iPhone ap could work!). Hearing a heart beat can give false reassurance. If you have reduced movement you need to be seen regardless of whether you detected a heart beat.

Please ignore her, some people genuinely don't understand that their busy lives might be considered less important than your baby. You know you did the right thing, be grateful her part in your life was fleeting and you never have to deal with her again. Good luck with the baby

And I would echo moonrise, please just go in if you have reduced movements, if you can't find the heartbeat you'll be terrified and, even worse, you might get your own and ignore symptoms because you heard a heartbeat

Some people are arseholes. Hopefully she has been told by one of the staff that shouting and swearing at another patient is not acceptable.

That's awful op, but so pleased everything is OK. Concentrate on the most important thing and take care of yourself, everything else is just background noise
