I'm 37+2. The back of my hands,my thumbs, the cushiony bit by my thumb and my wrists are so painful/achey. They are also itch at times.
Do you think this is water retention? Theyre red and hot but dont look particularly swollen. They woke me in the night they were so painful. .

carpal tunnel syndrome - it's apparently common to get this when you're pregnant - have a read up about it

Kbear · 21/04/2016 20:43

should add ---- it might be .... carpal tunnel syndrome - I'm not a doc !

RNBrie · 21/04/2016 20:43

Carpal Tunnel? Are you getting pins and needles at all?

It's really common in pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding. Worth a quick trip to the gp. I had it in both my hands after dd2, wore a write splint at night for a few weeks and it fixed it.

Write splint? Wrist splint. Sorry Blush

Get a physio referral and get some wrist splits to wear at night. They are a pain but really made a difference to me. Before I started wearing mine I'd got to the point that I couldn't do up buttons or turn on a tap they were so painful first thing in the morning.

It goes away once you have the baby.

Coldtoeswarmheart · 21/04/2016 20:51

Wrist splints helped me lots, worn at night only. If it is CTS the chances are it will settle after baby is born, though mine took c.12 months each time.

Get a referral I'm 10 weeks post partum and put up with this as I thought would go away when the baby came. It didn't and it hurts.

Thanks everyone.
I've got the hospital this morning so I'll mention it.
Had another sleepless night because of them. They're so painful! Everytime I woke I straightened my hands out again but it's my thumbs that are really painful

Can anyone give a link to where I can buy a splint? I have this six months after ds and it's so painful

Coldtoeswarmheart · 22/04/2016 14:33

I bought mine from Amazon.
