Self-employed and pregnant

Hello! I thought I'd start a thread for anyone who is self-employed and pregnant. I'm 6+3 with my first - I've been running my business for nearly 5 years, pretty much non-stop so I'm very nervous about taking time off and what will happen to my clients/ongoing projects/bank account! Shock

I'm also struggling with productivity and keeping myself motivated to actually DO stuff when I'm feeling so tired and nauseous. The temptation to sit on the sofa all day is very strong right now!

Anyone else in the same boat?

Such a great way to look at it, Suzie - hadn't thought about that but you're so right. The aim is to keep the business going so when these babies are in school (freaking out just thinking of that!!!) we make our own hours and spend as much time with them as possible. That's really cheered me up!

I've been forced into productivity today to meet a deadline but it's actually really taken my mind off the nausea. Got a looooong day in London next week which I'm dreading but think as long as I keep the sickness at bay I'll be alright!

Hi everyone, Good idea for a thread. I'm self employed too and around 4 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. For my previous 2 pregnancies and maternity leave I was employed and got all the maternity pay and benefits of working for a company - 10 months maternity with my first and a year with my second. It's going to be so different this time...!
Not sure what I'm going to do... I have one very good client at the moment and don't want to lose them. Keep telling myself that I'll just try to fit work around the baby, but I know realistically this will be really difficult, especially in the first few months and with 2 other kids to deal with. May just have to take the risk of around 4 months maternity and hope I can get back to work after this.
It's good to know I'm not the only one with self-employed issues ;-)

Dear all, hope you're doing well.

A small self employed preggo lady triumph for me today, which is that I have a new client who I am hoping will give me regular work through the rest of the pregnancy and beyond (so called maternity leave allowing). This work was first mentioned when I was feeling the depths of week 10 despair and am now signing contracts at 11+2 and feeling a tiny bit more like myself, so it's added to my generally brighter feeling.
