Talk to me about pregnancy when your 43...

Was it much harder then when you were younger?
Were you more worried?
Did you wonder what feck you were doing?
How well did you recover from the birth?

I'm finding it a little bit harder than when I was a young lass of erm...41, but that's probably mostly to do with chasing a 2 year old about!

I'm not worried - or any more so than last time. And I do sometimes wonder what I'm doing - sadly because I wonder if other people think I'm too old, but clearly I should just man the fuck up because no one has ever once mentioned my age, except me!

So: are you doing it? Or thinking about doing it? High-five, either way

Oh and I can't answer about the recovery bit yet as I'm still only second tri. Hoping it's not such a shock as last time...

Dp & I keep going back to the idea of one last baby.

Realistically dd is 2 & we've used no contraception since she was born. Nor have we particularly tried!

My periods have been random for the last year so my GP has sent me for a scan. I am prepared to be told another baby is unlikely.

I just wonder if im pushing my luck & being unrealistic.

When I mention my age, I keep being told (by hosp receptionists, midwives etc) that there are plenty of women older than me that they see all the time.

I was really concerned I wouldn't conceive a second time - but tracked cycles and used ovulation sticks and amazingly it happened quicker than the first time.

Congratulations

I'm 43 and I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant with triplets. My ds was born 8 years ago.

I can honestly say that this pregnancy has been easier than my singleton pregnancy when I was 35. I feel really well (I do get a bit tired, but hey, I'm making three of them, this time) - no sickness, much less muscle stiffness so sleeping better.

I'm putting it down to a healthier lifestyle (I started this pregnancy 1 1/2 stone lighter and I've done regular yoga), and far less stress as last time round I had a really stressful job, worked silly hours and did a 2-hour each way commute.

I am 43 (44 this year) and will be having DC 4 in two weeks time.

I definitely feel much more tired this time round. It is 10 years since my last though, so I am struggling to remember some of it!

It took us a little while to conceive and I did have a MC. I was actually just beginning to think it was time to stop trying when I got a positive result.

There have been times where I have wondered what I was doing because I am busier now then I ever was when having my other three children. I work more unfortunately, and have the others to worry about plus we have dogs now!

I wouldn't change it for anything though and can't wait to meet the new baby!
