Worried - 7 weeks PG and brownish discharge

Can anyone help?
I'm 7 weeks gone with my first pregnancy and this morning have noticed that I have some slight brownish stringy discharge when I wipe which seems to be getting worse (sorry if too much info!!). I first noticed a teeny tiny amount last night but as this morning has progressed I seem to have more when I wipe. I don't seem to have any accompanying pain.
Is this normal and should I be worried at all? Any advice GREATLY appreciated. As it is my first pregnancy I'm so worried that something will go wrong

Yep, will let you all know after my first scan which annoying isn't until 14 weeks - another 7 weeks to go then!

That's my local NHS Trust policy I'm afraid - apparently they used to do scans around 12 weeks but there was some possible problem/abnormality that could be missed so they moved the first scan dates to 14 weeks.

Hoping to hear from my midwife though next week as she's said she usually sees you for the first time at around 8-10 weeks.

A private scan at around 7 weeks is about £150 I think (haven't got the bill yet!). It might put your mind at rest if you saw a heartbeat now rather than wait another 7 weeks.

I'll mention it to the MW when I next speak to her and see what she says.

In the meantime, how do I find out about getting a private scan then? I'm in the South Manchester/Cheshire area if that helps. Would love an early scan because I'm dying to let people know but we've agreed not to say anything until we've had our first scan!

I had similar - if the hospital has a EPU (early pregnancy unit) then you could go to A&E, they might refer you for a scan. Your GP should also be able to refer you for an early scan. I had two early scans and got one both times using these two methods.

I'm 12 weeks and a couple of days with my first. Haven't had a bad time of it until about 15 minutes ago I went to the loo and have exactly the same brown, stringy discharge that you seem to describe MrsTom. DH overseas, so I've called NHS Direct and they'll hopefully call me back. Am mildly panicked to say the least and feeling rather alone, what with the husband away and all. Not in any pain but worried nonetheless. Hope you are ok MrsTom?

Hi all,

I'm fine today. No sign of anything untoward over the weekend so I'm just going to keep my head down and get on with things.

Unless there is a reoccurrence then I'll just wait until my scan at 14 weeks.

Thanks for your advice y'all x

Did NHS Direct call you back MissusC?

Yup - eventually!! Basically said not to worry unless it was fresh blood or I got any pains in the 'bump' area. Still some d/c this a.m, but I feel fine about it - have also spoken to midwife who said same thing as NHS Direct, so that's cool. Have got my 12 week (well, it'll actually be 13 week) scan on Friday, so can't wait for that. Thanks for getting back to me MrsTom, it's so good to know that I can chat to someone out there, as DH and I decided to keep quiet about the pregnancy until after the scan, so my mates with children are off limits at the moment. Very glad all well with you over the weekend.
