I'm looking to get an electric breast pump but I have no idea which one is good, have you got any suggestions?
Thanks
Anna.

I loved my medala swing

I have a Phillips avent and it really hurts, but bf hurt me so might not be the pump. Worth thinking of though

Second the Medela swing, loved mine. I believe you can rent them rather than buying if you don't want to fork out the £100+ (I got my second hand for £40, it was barely used as the first mum went for FF in the end. A quick sterilise and it was good to go!)

I've heard the only pumps that beat out Medela are the Spectra pumps.

Wonderful thank you Smile

I'd go for a closed system hospital grade double pump personally. Something like this (below). Pumping from both sides at the same time always worked best for me, and the closed system means milk can't get into the machine for best hygiene etc so you can sell it/ buy 2nd hand without risk of contamination.

It depends what you are going to need it for. A double pump is best if you are exclusively pumping or need to increase supply. An electric is best if you need to pump for the occasional bottle away from baby or to build a freezer supply. A manual is best to relieve engorgement.

I have tried the Philips Avent manual which is brilliant. There is a thread full of reviews on it. I have also tried the Nuby electric which wasn't brilliant, and very noisy! The Medela Swing is the best for my needs.

I loved my medela swing, I pumped so that DH could feed and I could take a break.

Dixiechick17 · 27/01/2016 13:54

I had the medela mini, brilliant pump

CalmerBirth · 28/01/2016 13:07

You can hire hospital grade electric pumps from NCT - cheaper from going to the company direct

BatMobile · 28/01/2016 19:06

Medela Swing.

Annafluffy80 · 31/01/2016 00:46

Thank you everyone! It looks to be a unanimous result Grin

I loved my Spectra 3 (think you can get them for £50 from Amazon), it's electric and can be used as a double pump.
