Vaccinations / Tests in pregnancy

Inspired by the Strep B thread, I was wondering what tests and vaccinations are carried out in the last trimester?

I have never seen the same midwife for any of my appointments and my care seems a little all over the place. I am 30w3d and at my midwife appointment last week I asked about the whooping cough jab as my friend had just had this. The midwife said just said "oops has nobody booked you in you for that? we better get you an appointment with the nurse"

Clearly if I hadn't have mentioned it, I wouldn't have had it! So now I am wondering whether there are any other jabs or tests that are due between now and my EDD so that I can make sure I don't get overlooked!!

Flu and whooping cough are the only two that are routinely recommended. WC can be had any time from 28 weeks so you're not too late by any means. Flu can be done any time - I had mine back in October as best to have it at the beginning of the flu season but again not too late if you've missed it.

I had flu jab at 28 and also anti D injection (anti D is only for people with rhesus negative blood type) and whooping cough at 31 weeks. I got told by MW that whooping cough needs to be 28-32 to get best benefits for the baby

are you rhesus negative (if you are it'll be stamped all over your notes), you'll need anti D, about 28 weeks. Other than that you have bloods done at 28 weeks,mainly for anemia and then flu and whooping cough.

Had the flu shot at 17 weeks back in October and getting my whooping cough vaccine at 30 weeks later today. Nothing else recommended - no anti-D needed here either.

Gestational diabetes test is the only other one i can think of.

Do you get whooping cough at docs or hospital? I am 32 weeks tomorow and haven't had it getting worried now

By a nurse at my GP's surgery for me - it might differ elsewhere.

WC was GP for me too, and I had to book my own.

At GPs for WC and had to call to book as others have said. Looks like that is the norm for it
