Music gig when pregnant

Hey all, just wanted to pass on my experience at the O2 last night!

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and was umming and ahhing over whether not to go to the Mumford & Sons gig last night.

We had standing tickets and last year it got pretty lively down there (which I am normally all for!) But I needed to try to think sensibly about whether to go or not, if I'd even be up for it.

Luckily I was feeling fine yesterday and when we got to the O2 we spoke to a lady at ticket desk who escorted us up to guest services, who switched our standing tickets to seated tickets no questions asked! Just told them I was pregnant like it was the magic word 😂

And the seats we got were AMAZING!

I like to think our little nugget had a great night bouncing along to Mumford! 😁 sore boobies were a slight issue lol.

I went toloads of gigs when I was pregnant.
It was pre MN days otherwise I would have probably been shot down as trying to be too cool for school!
I promised DH that I would stay on the sidelines at a Terrorvision gig but I ended up in the thick of it bouncing up and down holding on to my bump.
Certainly from 7 months up until 11 days before DS2 I saw Patti Smith, Therapy, The Levellers, the men they couldn't hang, Garbage, Skunk Anaise and others.

Funny enough both DS'shave inherited my love of gigs and watching live music and now come with me sometimes.

Yay!

Our potato has so far been to see Belle & Sebastian, Young Fathers and U2. Was thinking about going to see The Silencers next weekend but not 100% sure as the venue is standing only - have been having some issues with low BP, don't think I'd be overly popular if I keeled over and we had to leave!

I went to quite a few when pregnant. We also got great seats for the Arcade Fire when I mentioned I was pregnant.

DH drew the line at me going to see the Prodigy at two weeks after my ELCS. We went last week instead now DS is 8 months and I have to admit DH was right!

I saw Faithless in Birmingham last week at 31 weeks and was absolutely fine. Little one kicked away!!

I fainted in the loos at a Kylie minogue concert the shame DH didn't even come looking for me. I was hauled up in the first aid room. This was obviously many many years ago.

I did a 1 day music festival at 8 weeks. Despite feeling nauseous all day it was great until I bumped into a drunk work colleague who then tried to pick me up. Dh's face was a picture,he didn't know whether to step in or not. Also went to see Craig Charles dj at 12 weeks which was really fun. I try to play music to my bump through my phone, anything with a good bass line tends to get the best response. Currently weighing up going to the football at 38+3, hopefully if I buy a ticket I might go into labour just before! (I do really want to go but don't want to go overdue more!)

I went to rewind festival earlier in the summer, 5 months n camping was surprisingly okay! .. Been to a few gigs since but now at 36weeks I think I'm out til after the baby.. Bump just feels too big n although I'm sure I'd be fine, I do worry about someone bumping into my stomach.. Sitting down gig I'm sure is different though

I missed a Korn concert for my first born.

I will forgive him one day.

I turned down tickets to Mötley Crüe a few weeks ago .. I think that'l always be a touchy subject

Yay for early musical education!

I went to see Everything Everything at 16 weeks, when I had got past the nausea. I wore a top that showed off the bump in the hope that people would leave me a bit of space. Gig was great and the crowd were lovely - I'm really glad I went.

Am gutted to be missing the Manics Everything Must Go 20 year anniversary gig but will have a newish baby then. It had better be a lovely baby (or a really wet gig).

Motley Crue! That would have been brilliant.

We shall get our revenge when they are teenagers and asking to go to gigs of their own!

I did the same at the O2 last year when I was pregnant. They seated us in the same area

I went to see Malcolm Middleton and Idlewild at 39 weeks with DS1. Figured I might not get to another gig for a while after.

I went to see Arcade Fire in Hyde Park at 32 weeks, on the days I was told by the consultant that they wanted to get the baby out ASAP. I figured I might as well have one last hurrah!

I went to a few gigs too whilst pregnant, although the last one was at 7.5 months (punk, ska and dub so plenty of bouncing around!) as I just felt too cumbersome after that. Glad I did as it's been so difficult to get to many since DD made her entrance! I stayed at the back at the more mental gigs, but was able to prance around at the front at a few. Never had a problem

somerset I feel for you, there's absolutely no way I'd miss a Manics tour. I've instructed dh that tickets had better be coming my way for Christmas! We'll deal with the whole 12 week old baby situation later...

Yay! So glad we went now, their next London show is at Hyde Park in July but it is the same week as my EDD so will have to miss it! 😔

My main concern was what if I get badly squished (Marcus Mumford ran around the standing section amongst everyone for a whole song and the crowd surged like mad so glad we weren't down there!) I was also worried about getting hot/dizzy/overcome and not being able to escape. And being near a toilet for a few wees 😂

Having said that I had a seat but I didn't sit down once! 😁

Glad you enjoyed it. I went to loads of gigs and festivals while pregnant. Until a week before birth with dc2 and was at our first festival as a family at 8 weeks post partum. Musical education is never too early.

I went to lots of gigs while pregnant. Most memorable was Primal Scream when 8 months gone (standing ). As we left the venue the security guards spotted me and cleared a path for me to waddle swan out in style with DH trailing behind.

Now that DD is 14 she's finally old enough to go to proper indoor gigs at the Brixton Academy. Last week we took her to her first 'proper' gig there, Public Service Broadcasting.

I went to three Duran Duran gigs last week and am 27 weeks. I was on the front row for two of them. No problems at all and enjoyed every second!
