measuring big - will baby come early?

I'm measuring two weeks head, am 30 weeks measuring 32. Has anyone else had this and gone into labour early? My previous babies have always measured behind by a couple of weeks and they both went over my due date, 1st by two weeks second by one week. Is it just wishful thinking that I might not have to hang around for so long this time?

I dont believe so, i'm measuring big too and have been told it's no indicator- conversely DS1 was always measuring a week BEHIND and he came a week EARLY and was only 6'13! So i dont think there's much of a link..

It may also just be a growth spurt (unfortunately). I was measuring 3 weeks ahead at 28 weeks and now bang on at 34 weeks. Planning to get on raspberry leaf, evening primrose oil and the birthing ball soon!

I measured 2 or 3 weeks over consistently, in my first pregnancy. DS arrived the day after his due date weighing 8lb exactly...

I am being induced a week tomorrow because my baby is measuring bug due to diabetes x

I measured a month ahead at 30w with my first and he arrived 15 days late but was only 9lb 1oz!

I'm currently 37w with DC5 and always measure big in every pregnancy (but rarely are actually big). In fact, at my 31w m/w appointment, she forecast a 10lb+ baby. I'm now under consultant care because scans show baby is actually teeny tiny. Needless to say, I reckon measurements are neither reliable nor an indicator of anything much!

No, DS measured big, his head engaged 4 weeks before he was born (and he was my second). He still needed to be forced out at 42 weeks :)

And weighed 10 lb...

Yeah, I measured big all the way through and they gave me a CS on my due date. She was 8lb6oz. I didn't bother the next time and just rolled my eyes.

All of my available anecdata for measuring big suggests they stay put longer, I'm afraid. They are just comfy, I guess. This includes the 11lb whopper where we got the dad back from an op tour three weeks early as everyone was convinced she was going to pop at any second. Yup, two weeks over and induced.

My friend measured big throughout her pregnancy and went 2 weeks over.

I was exactly (and I do mean exactly) to dates but had a very very neat bump. People still didn't know I was pregnant to look at me at 6 months! I gave birth 4 weeks early.

We both have healthy thriving babies but hers remains a big bruiser of a boy and my little girl is still just very neat.

I tend to think if you have a big baby it stays in longer but that may just be anecdotal.

A friend who is a midwife told me to be packed and ready to go by 34 weeks.

The day I went into labour at 35 + 5 I had literally just finished packing my hospital bag and went to sit down. Then my waters broke. I'm not sure if the moral of that story is 'be prepared from 34 weeks' or 'don't jinx it by having your bag packed' hahaha!!! Either way I was glad it was packed and off I went to hospital calm and prepared (I drove myself).
