Hi there. Back in 2011 I was diagnosed with Polyhydramnios very late in my pregnancy (38/9 weeks). I had been measuring a little bit big, but myself and my partner are tall, so it was assumed to be normal (just a large baby) and they only picked up the poly when I was sent in for a scan to see if baby was breech or not. I had wanted a natural water birth, and the result was an induction at 40 + 4 due to risk of cord prolapse as she wasn't engaged. The induction was very traumatic for me, and I had a range of post natal problems afterwards. We were very lucky that my daughter was born healthy with no problems, and I didn't have GD.
I've just been for my 20 week scan today with baby number 2, and am already measuring slightly over for amniotic fluid for my dates, so looks like it might be happening again. I had got myself into a really positive state of mind about this labour- we've started hypnobirthing classes and I had my heart set on a home birth-lovely and natural and the antithesis of what happened last time, but I'm feeling a bit disheartened as it looks like the poly might be occurring again. I know it's not inevitable, but I like to be prepared- I would love to hear about other ladies experiences of recurring Polyhydramnios and whether you managed to have a natural labour, and if so, how you managed it? And how you got on with the consultants? Thanks in advance X
