33 weeks pg and have been thinking for a while about the name Serendipity for a girl. Is this just cruel and hormonal? Other two DDs have fairly normal names.

LGJ ...
But like Ireland, NZ is such a stunning country that I will forgive the fickle weather and enjoy the scenery instead
Surrey - New Zealand - Surrey - New Zealand ... no contest

Thought more about the fortuitous accident meaning of the name..sorry word. Hope? Charity? Also just words. Clutching at straws? Maybe, but dont have braincells to decide whats for supper, let alone come up with new names. Baby was certainly "unexpected", so name fits.

look, we're all grown-ups and we can't resist taking the piss

does that tell you something?

itsazoohere · 09/12/2006 19:49

11yr old wants to add that we live in brighton, so it's not actually all that odd.

"Seren is a lovely welsh name like that as an abbreviation."

So call her that! Well no, don't actually because I don't want any more of them around.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 09/12/2006 19:50

You could give her Dipity as her middle name.

I think it's asking for trouble. Like Grace. I love the name Grace but I just know that if I called DD that she'd be a huge hulking elephatine kind of girl.

itsazoohere · 09/12/2006 19:57

she says..... its really cool, a bit strange, but so's our family. at last its not chavvy like courtney and there won't be loads of them in her class like chloe. And stop taking the mickey out of my mum! thats my job.

OP posts:
Twiglett · 09/12/2006 20:06

I beg to differ on the chavvy... aspiring to use a name which is not really a name is kind of chavvy

oh and dragon DD's middle name? .... grace ... big hulking mooster of a child

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 09/12/2006 20:08

I think I should have named DD after some goddess of war rather than a welsh star. There's no way she would have suited Grace (and it is a lovely nme, just not suitable for Dragons. Sigh)

Cruel.

Hormonal.

Bad.

Seren is OK, though.

DonnerDasherDancerDior · 09/12/2006 20:15

@ 'huge hulking elephatine kind of girl'.

DonnerDasherDancerDior · 09/12/2006 20:16

I've known two 'Joy's. Neither of them were remotely joyful.

bellybuttonwatch · 09/12/2006 20:41

Itsazoohere, i suggest you don't listen to what being said i think serendipity is a wonderful name for a daughter, esspicaly if she was unplanned go for it girl

GoodKingWestCountryLass · 09/12/2006 21:24

DDDD, glad you said that, DH wants to call our baby Joy but I have vetoed it for that very reason!

My friends DD is called Naomi, spell it backwards and yes you got it, she does nothing but whinge

doyouwantfrankincensewiththat · 09/12/2006 21:32

But there have been so many other lovely suggestions for names recently,

I recommended Souffle, Kumquat & Amnesia myself

Serendipity was a character in the film Dogma wasn't she? Serendipity ,fortuitous accident .

How about Precious , I've met a couple of those - what does your dd think of that?
