Early Miscarriage?

Hi all,
I'm 5 weeks 5 days pregnant (two positive tests) and am experiencing a little bit of bleeding just this evening (brown discharge at first and now a tinge of fresh red). I had a few twinges (like period pains) earlier and had also noticed this afternoon that my breasts don't feel quite as tender as they used to. I had a little sleep before I noticed the bleeding, having felt quite tired all day with a slight headache. Am also feeling nauseous, but that may be the nerves. Has anybody experienced this and then gone on to have a successful pregnancy or should I brace myself that this is the start of a miscarriage?
I'm 40, had one previous miscarriage 6 months ago, but began a lot milder. No no other previous children.
Any comments welcome

egsf and loves apples I am so sorry you're both going through this. Wish I could give you both a hug. It's such a heartbreaking thing to go through and nothing makes it feel better at the time.
It's a loss you need to mourn and it takes time but it'll become less heavy with time. I don't think you ever forget or 'get over it' but it doesn't weigh as much with time to heal.

I had two early miscarriages in 2011 which was just the worst year of my life. I convinced myself there was something really wrong. I'm so blessed that my next pregnancy resulted in a now bouncing 3 year old girl and then we fell pregnant when she was 1.5 unplanned and I now have a very fiesty 10 month old perfect daughter to add to the brood.
I'm only adding this because the only thing that gave me hope when I was where you are was knowing that people had experienced what I was experiencing and then went on to have healthy babies and straightforward pregnancies.

Wishing you all the luck in the world when you feel ready to try again and thinking of your little angel babies who will always be with you xx
