First pregnancy - terrified of first scan!

Hello,

This is my first pregnancy and my first scan is in ten days and I am petrified of something going wrong or there being no heartbeat! I am approx. 10/11 weeks and I am still feeling nauseous (although not as much as I was), tired and have headaches a lot of the time - but other things have calmed down. I don't know if this is reason to worry, or if it is the normal course of things. I just cant stop worrying!

Feeling nauseas is a sign of high hormone levels so although it's horrid, it's a positive sign!

Good luck!

It's hard not to worry, but you just have to try your best. Try and distract yourself with some good shows on netflix :)

I was the same! I worried and worried, but in the end everything was fine. It'll more than likely be the same for you too.
After that I found some new things to worry about though Hmm

I was the same. I think a lot of people are. I think when you're pregnant, you'll always have something to worry about, and when you have the baby you'll still always have something to worry about.
I only had mine last week. And like you, I had started to feel a little less sick and wasn't feeling so "blegh" you're almost coming up to the second trimester so it's probably normal. A lot of people start feeling a bit better during the second trimester, even if just for a week or two. But you're still sick and still having headaches, so hopefully that reassures you. It's crazy, while we're pregnant we can sometimes actually welcome feeling so sick and headachey haha.

Thankyou for the reassurance - Roll on that scan just so I know!

Im the same Natty im due #2 in May. My scan in two weeks and Im worrying all the time that when I have scan there will be no heartbeat.

Its awful and ruining the enjoyment of this pregnancy for me. I have stopped posting on the ante natal club thread here and one on another site as I feel I am jinxing things until I find everything is ok.

Im 10+4 today and Im still puking in mornings so that is giving me some comfort but definitely not as sick as I was.

As PP said sickness etc starts to ease round this time as you are nearing second trimester.

It has been 6 years since I was last pregnant and I wasnt worrying as much that time, this time round I am more clued in - I was 20 when pregnant last so I suppose I was a bit naive back then and I think googling things which I shouldnt have done has some effect this time round.

What will be will be and fingers crossed for you, it is an exciting time!!

I was the same with my first pregnancy and most likely will be the same again this time! There's nothing for it but to just focus on positive things and distract yourself and then it will soon come round. Most people are absolutely fine. I burst into tears of relief after my first scan!

I was the same in my first pregnancy, at the 12 week scan I could hardly lie on the bed let alone look at baby on the screen as I was totally convinced that there would be something wrong or I'd made it all up and wasn't pregnant.

Like you, my symptoms (sickness, sore boobs, tiredness) suddenly disappeared at 11 weeks which added to my fears but everything was fine and you will be fine too! Enjoy every second of your scan, it's truly amazing!

I cried the morning of my first scan scared that there either wasn't going to be a baby or a missed miscarriage. My symptoms would regularly just go and I would be petrified. I am now waiting for my 20 week scan so although symptoms are a good sign, losing symptoms isn't always a bad sign.

Good luck with your scan
