I would be so grateful if you could share your experiences. I tested positive on HPT 2 days ago when I was 12 dpo. Had brown stained CM when I wiped yesterday and twice today. The positive lines on the pregnancy test aren't getting darker. Symptoms are less than they were on Tuesday. Please tell me honestly if it is bad news. I had a MMC 2 months ago. Was diagnosed at 11 weeks and it tore me apart.Day before the MMC, I had similar brown stained CM. I don't know what is happening now. Please help

I wouldn't worry about the test lines - aside from the earliness, the amount of hcg in your urine can vary madly depending on time of day, hydration levels etc.

The brown staining could be old blood, could be a small implantation bleed or - yes - could possibly maybe be a sign that things aren't going well. But that's just one possibility. Brown rather than bright red and only when you wipe rather than in your knickers are both 'good' signs. Heavier or redder bleeding would be more pointing to mc.

Can you phone your nearest EPU and get them to book you an early scan as soon as they would be willing? Our local one is great and will see anyone who has miscarriage history even if they have no symptoms which are worrying.

I know it's such a horribly anxious time. Take it easy and be nice to yourself. If you can, stop the testing - it will only feed anxiety.

Flowers - I really hope it all works out.

Hi coco, I also had some brownish discharge on the day I got my bfp and was worried as I was also getting cramps but it only lasted 2 days and now I feel fine. Everything I read seemed to indicate that small amounts of brownish discharge are not likely to be anything to worry about but if u start to bleed heavily and with cramps then get checked out. Fingers crossed everything's fine Smile

Hi coco, sorry to hear you're going through stress. In my current pregnancy and pregnancy with dd I had brown discharge too. DD is now two and I'm 11 weeks pregnant. Have had two scans so far in this pregnancy since discharge started and baby is fine with a great heartbeat. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. Flowers

Also wanted to add that in my two mcs (one mmc and one natural) I had no spotting/discharge. With the natural one it started off pink and went red very quickly. Brown blood is usually old blood so fingers crossed for you.

Don't panic. I had this several times between weeks 5-10 of my last pregnancy. At times there was quite a bit and I was sure I was losing the baby. I was referred to the EPU twice as a precaution but both times baby was fine and there was no visible cause of the bleeding - it was just one of those things that 'sometimes happens'. I was told to come back if I had any concerns, particularly if the bleeding changed, became red rather than brown or I had cramps. I believe that very occasionally it can be a sign of MC or MMC, which was why I was worried, but in the majority of cases it is fine. This early there's probably nothing anyone can do to check, but from 6 weeks or so the EPU can probably scan you to be on the safe side. My sympathies though, it is very stressful. Try not to worry. Symptoms at this stage would be likely to be up and down anyway so try not to read too much into everything. Have some Cake and I hope it eases off soon just for your peace of mind.

I had brown blood for a while maybe 4-7 weeks with ds1 - implantation bleed we thought - and was worried when I didn't have it this time! Ds1 was birn huge and healthy. This one looks good so far. Try not to worry. X

With my early MC I had cramping and light pink bleeding that progressed within 2 hours to a lots of red blood and a full miscarriage. If you have had on/off spotting of brown blood that has stopped now it doesn't sound like a worry to me, but always worth getting checked out.

At 12 do you will be too early to see anything on a scan (6 weeks is best for that) but I would go to your GP tomorrow and ask for a HCG blood test, and follow up with another one a couple of days later. You want those numbers to roughly double over those couple of days and that will give you a clearer idea if the pregnancy is progressing as it should.

Good luck, keeping everything crossed for you

With my first pregnancy in the first 12 weeks i had spotting about every 4 weeks only for one day, terrified me everytime but baby was fine. It was like my body was going "ahh it's that time of the month....oh no hang on we aren't doing that now are we.." Confused your in a situation completely out of your control try to relax I know it's hard...

Thank you SO much for all the comments!!
Very reassuring!
Still very scared but it helps so much to read the comments...especially when you have had a healthy baby after the spotting
