Anyone else having daily heparin injections during pregnancy?

I'm over half way and it worries me that the baby really thrashes around every time I do my injection. I'm due to carry on throughout the whole pregnancy and I'm already stressing a bit about it getting more and more upset the bigger it gets.

I can't stop it hurting. I do a pretty good job nowadays and have minimal bruising. I assume the baby is reacting to my nerve ending jangling or something?

If you are anticipating a painful injection, might your baby be responding to that - or your stress levels - rather than the heparin?

I had to do clexane injections for about 20 weeks so I know how much the jabs sting!

Yes I think its reacting to my pain receptors going off. I hate feeling it thrashing under my hand, it's awful.

:(

That must be horrible.

Can you ask your doc if you can inject in to your hip, or a fatty part of your thigh instead?

I had clexane injections for about 20 weeks, so sympathise with the pain.

Sorry - so scarred by the clexane, felt the need to repeat myself Blush

I had heparin injections from 8 weeks
Pg until 6 weeks after birth. I did them on my side (plenty of "love handles") but I was also allowed to do them in my thigh if I wanted to. The injections shouldn't affect baby at all.
Please don't just take the advice of people on here though, speak to your consultant/midwife.

I haven't tried the fat on my side. I will try that!

Earth thank you so much, injecting in my side was great this morning. It didn't hurt, I didn't flinch, the baby didn't thrash. Brilliant. Love this place Grin

Really glad that was better. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well.
