'heavily pregnant'

This is very trivial and I guess depends on your own experience but when do you think qualifies as heavily pregnant?! I am 32 weeks now and have really started to feel pregnant in the last week or so. I feel tired and heavy and it's an effort to get up off the sofa in the evenings. I just wondered when you think of people being 'heavily' pregnant, it's a phrase that's used a lot but I haven't felt it until now.

I'm nearly 35 weeks, and I've been heavily pregnant for months! Well, it feels like it anyway. I'm struggling to turn over in bed, get up off the couch, get in and out the car........the joys!

No idea if there is a 'technical' explanation, but yeah, I'd say when you're very obviously pregnant, struggle with mobility, and generally feel heavy and tired. I'm heading towards 37 weeks and would class myself as heavily pregnant, though I'm still pretty small and neat, but getting up out of bed or off the sofa takes a fair bit of effort!

I'd say I definitely feel heavily pregnant now at 35 weeks. Probably started really feeling it (sore hips, insomnia, getting full quickly, kicks from baby really hurting etc) from about 32 weeks so for me that's when I'd say I was "heavily pregnant."

Someone referred to me as 'heavily pregnant' the other day and I wasn't sure how I felt about it (I'm 30 weeks).

I have noticed a distinct downturn in my physical capabilities over the last 2 weeks and I am pretty large (bump is measuring 2 weeks ahead). But I feel a bit resentful for someone to refer to me like that even I know I'm being irrational. I'm pretty proud of how active I am.

I'm knackered a lot, my bump and back ache, but I still managed to go for a run Saturday morning and then do 2 hours of gardening. Granted I then could do nothing for the rest of the day, but hey...

To me it personally mean't when the baby felt really heavy on my pelvis - I suppose people say that the bump / baby drops. I felt like my body was getting ready for labor.

34 weeks here and just given in to 'heavily pregnant'. DH has been using it for the last month, much to my disgruntlement, but I preferred to use 'obviously pregnant' for a while as I don't like being called heavy!!!

Kickedinthetits · 28/09/2015 14:01

I'm 34 weeks with twins. I'd say I'm there.

ThreeBeanRap · 28/09/2015 14:18

Yes a few people have said it to me now, and at first I felt a bit unsure about it, I didn't feel 'heavy' as such and still had quite a way to go, but now I think I'm there! As above, rolling over in bed/changing position on the sofa/getting out of the car all feels a lot more difficult now. I tried to give myself a mini pedicure at the weekend as well and had to admit defeat!

I'm 32 weeks as well and I definitely feel heavily pregnant.

I'm heavy
Bump feels heavy
Baby feels heavy and low down in bump
Can't walk far without pelvic pain
Can't turn over in bed without pelvis cracking
Can't put shoes or socks on without grunts and wheezes
Ankles & hands swell while sitting at desk.
Have to haul self up stairs.

Yes I'd describe myself as 'heavily pregnant'! I certainly did on the phone when complaining to the furniture shop that sent us the wrong size bed frame!!

lemon I am jealous of your run! I used to run all the time but can barely walk to the bus stop now - spd sucks!

Patchworkturtle · 29/09/2015 17:48

I felt heavily pregnant from about 30 weeks. I was massive though, needed to wear a girdle to support the bump! Confused

RainwildsGirl · 29/09/2015 19:28

I'd say from about 30 weeks with a singleton. I felt very much heavily pregnant from about 25 weeks with DTs!!
