More Brown Spotting 14wks....Wisdom required!

Hello
I'm sorry but am a bit of a lurkerBlush.
I have 2 sons (10&8) and have had 2 second tri mc since (2010 -19 wks spontaneous & 2014-mmc picked up at 20 wk scan).

Am 14 weeks now, on clexane (40ml) and doing okay, with just the odd wobble, hence this post!

I have had brown, sometimes stringy (sorry tmi), discharge since Monday. It's only when I wipe. Also having usual (I think) crampy pains, nothing hardcore though.

I rang my daft arse mw for a bit of reassurance and she told me to go to gp to see if he could hear hb. I went yesterday and he couldn't, but did say it was too early and also that he's never found a hb with Doppler! He said he would refer me for scan if I was worried, but am trying to be rational!!

Also I had brown spotting for a few days at around 10 weeks, scan at 11+4 showed that all was well.

Sometimes I feel calm, but then not sure.
Sorry to babble.
Should I be worried?

I really hope you got checked out? Gp and midwife sound useless! I'd try and get a referral to epau if I were you.

Turquoisetamborine · 20/09/2015 04:18

I hope you got scanned and everything was fine.
I had horrendous bleeding all the way through my last pregnancy and the baby was perfectly fine. They never found out why.

You should really be having consultant led care if you are on a higher dose of Clexane. Your MW and GP both sound rubbish, especially given your history. I'd be calling whatever 24hr MW helpline your hospital has and reminding them of your history. If they had half a heart they would offer you a reassurance scan on the spot.

Brown discharge definitely isn't the end of the world. I've been having it for the last few weeks after being diagnosed with a subchorionic haematoma in first trimester. Apparently they are more common when on drugs like Clexane and in fact I was asked to stop my Clexane and aspirin when they discovered it. However, given your history I strongly think the advice they'd give you would be very different.

I hope you get a reassurance scan soon and that all is well x

Terrible that the GP is still attempting to use a piece of equipment he clearly can't operate and hasn't flagged this up as a training need for himself. I've used home Doppler since 10 wks and have found HB every time.
Agree with what has been said about following it up with midwife/hospital again and trying to book a scan. I'm sure it's absolutely fine but it sounds like reassurance would be as helpful as anything else. Good luck!

I spotted on and off with all 3 of my pregnancies, sometimes the bleeding was considerably more than spotting especially in my last pregnancy. I did have scans which were very reassuring and all 3 dcs were absolutely fine (and still are of course).

Sorry to hear you went through two mc OP, incredibly sad. I'd get yourself to your EPU and bypass your midwife tbh they sound useless!
I had spotting upon wiping 11-15 weeks and one big bleed at 11 weeks. Turned out to be a hematoma which wasn't picked up at 10 weeks as it is behind baby and hard to find. At 14 weeks it had shrunk and I've had no spotting since (almost 16 weeks). Could you have a cervical erosion? I have this also and the sonographer did mention this can cause bleeding.

Thank you so much for your replies, I feel much better and have only had a very small amount of pale brown on wiping over the last 2 days.

I think if I still have it tomorrow, it'll have been a week on & off then, I'll give the maternity unit @ hospital or consultant a ring.

I am a little reluctant to push for a scan, last time (mmc at 20 weeks) I had a 'reassurance' scan at 16 weeks and all was fine. I know that a scan will not change anything and whatever's going to happen will happen anyway.

Does that sound daft?

Thanks again for support x
