Anyone else suffering with this? I've had an awful cold and blocked sinuses for a sot two weeks now. No sense of smell or taste. Worth going to the doctor or will I be tutted at for wasting time?

It's awful! I had it and wanted to chop my face off to let the snot drain away.
Steam inhalation helped as did rubbing tiger balm on my temples and forehead.
Flowers for you for 'tis bloody rotten
GP not likely helpful unless you are poorly with it

StepfauxWife · 26/08/2015 20:14

Thanks, I've been doing all that. How long before it went away?

It's driving me potty! I sound ridiculous and I'm mainly so sad at missing out on lots of yummy food.

Oh I had this, it's was horrendous. I saw the doctor who signed me off work (I couldn't sleep!). The only advice I can give is steam, steam, steam! Sit over a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes four times a day to clear the snot. Takes a bit of time but it's really effective. Hope you feel better soon.

Try saline drops. Sinusitis is the worst condition I've ever had. So debilitating but hidden from others!

Not sure if you will get Anti Bs due to baby.

I've got some Sterimar but it doesn't seem to be doing much.

Yes I'm pre-12 weeks so I didn't think anti-biotics were an option.

Calpol saline spray works well, I had sinusitis when breastfeeding and used that, worked a treat (not as well as a few doses of sinutab, sorry Confused but good enough!!!)

Hi, sorry- got all tied up with life! Trying to remember how long it lasted.... I think the worst of it was gone in a week but I constantly had a congested nose through the whole pregnancy.
Hope it gets better soon

debbiewells21 · 27/08/2015 01:58

Could this be Rhinitis? might be worth seeing a doctor anyway?

zen1980 · 27/08/2015 05:44

I had this in Very late pregnancy, doc have me done antibiotics to help clear up. Felt like face was going to explode not good Sad
To help I just to turn shower temp up and let steam in. Was advised dong use any potions that dry it up they can damage tubes, clear the infection,

lauraa4 · 27/08/2015 09:57

Not the same but I had bronchitis at 28 weeks and it was horrible. I was put on antibiotics for a week which made me physically sick and was also signed off work for a few days. I remember the awful blocked nose I had along with chesty cough. Not nice!

cloudjumper · 27/08/2015 10:13

You can get antibiotics that are safe in pregnancy, and if you have an infection, then you should definitely go to the GP.

Otherwise, I can highly recommend NeilMed Sinus Rinse (you can get it from Amazon) - best thing I ever tried to clear my sinuses, it was brilliant.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm still struggling but steam is helping. I'm a very popular person in the office with my parping nose!
