Help, need a slap and to get a grip.
I've had a horrible metallic taste for a couple of weeks and the last few days had the most tender boobs.
I have an implant and only get a light period every 3-6 months so I can't be pregnant can I?

I'm a bit sniffily so hoping the taste is me getting a cold, but can't think of anything to blame the sore boobs on.
Because I have such random periods any idea when to poas, or am I daft to even think about it?

I have to say it's possible. My first symptom with both pregnancies do far was a mild sniffle!

Ilovenannyplum · 23/08/2015 19:23

POAS time!
Is being pregnant good or bad??

Buttercup27 · 23/08/2015 19:27

Bad Sad my family is complete and was hoping to discuss sterilisation when it's time for my implant to be removed in 2017.
Does it matter when I poas as I have no idea when my period is due?

Something has just popped into my head,
I had a smear test 3 weeks ago and the test results came back as borderline cell changes, I've got to go to hospital for tests on Thursday, could this be a reason grasping at straws

Oh bugger. I think just do it, rule it out either way and then you either are pregnant and deal with it however you see best for you. Or you aren't pregnant and then you can try and work out why else you would be feeling crappy Thanks

Buttercup27 · 23/08/2015 19:33

I think you're absolutely right. Best case scenario, I waste money on a test.
Worse case scenario, I stop packing up the baby clothes.
If when it comes back negative, do you think it would be accurate because of periods?

If you test and its negative make sure you do another test 2 weeks after to check its still negative Smile

Buttercup27 · 23/08/2015 20:14

Will do.
I might just be over thinking and symptom hunting but I've been completely knackered the last few weeks even having afternoon naps and early nights
Think this is going to be a long few hours until I can get to a shop and get a test fuck in Sunday trading
May need some handhold in tomorrow.
Thanks everybody for not telling me I'm being ridiculous and it's all in my head.

I got sniffles 9dpo and still here at 9 weeks pregnant.

You can confirm a negative pregnancy 3 weeks after you last had 'unprotected' sex, assuming you are only using the implant for contraception. Ovulation is normally approx. 2 weeks before a period, and so it normally takes 2 weeks from conception to get a positive test, but can be longer which is why they say 21 days to rule out pregnancy.

Good luck.

Ilovenannyplum · 23/08/2015 20:42

Good luck! I've nothing better to do with my life tomorrow so happy to offer you a virtual hand hold Smile

Buttercup27 · 23/08/2015 21:03

Yes only using implant, but I'll have to wait and see if it's enough.
When I was pregnant with both dc I started to get these symptoms when I was 6 weeks pregnant, so in theory if these are symptoms it will show positive.
Think it's going to be a long night.
DH originally wanted 3 so he's happy either way, although said it will be hard to go back to sleepless nights etc when he had mentally prepared himself not to have to do it again.
Dc are 3 and 20 months .
Thanks for the handholding.

Dh has just brought me scones with jam and cream up to me, I'm having an early night as I'm shattered even though I had a 2 hour afternoon nap

I don't know whether this applies at all, but when I had my implant put in, the lady before me came out saying that she had to have two put in due to her size. She was quite a large lady, but not THAT big. I don't know if there's any truth in that.

First pregnancy here, but my symptoms started at 3+4 with nausea followed by dry heaving 3+5, 2 days before AF. I was throwing up at 4+1. You might be earlier than you think, although seeing as everything I've read claims you don't get morning sickness until 6 weeks, perhaps I'm the anomaly or maybe I'm going to be in for a shock in a few weeks at my 12 week scan with wrong dates or....

Maybe you have a virus? That would explain the tiredness and cold and if you're under the weather, the strange taste?

Buttercup27 · 23/08/2015 22:14

I so hope it's a virus. I have a normal bmi and am in the middle of the healthy weight range, so no that doesn't really apply but really interesting, off to google
Keep waking myself up by lying on my sore boobs Sad
Going by the last time we had penetrative sex (sorry tmi) if I were to be pregnant I would be around 6-7 weeks ish.
But I'm focusing on a virus!

Junosmum · 23/08/2015 22:16

I had those symptoms for a few weeks a couple of years ago. It turned out to be a virus, but it certainly shit me up! Just take a test.

Buttercup27 · 23/08/2015 22:19

junosmum I could kiss you right now. GrinI will poas as soon as the shops open tomorrow!

Any news Buttercup?

Buttercup27 · 24/08/2015 12:23

No Sad ds2 is suffering with his teeth this morning and screamed for nearly 2 hrs. He's now snuggled on the sofa after I finally managed to get calpol down him. Dc1 is in a tired fowl mood and it's pouring down so we're having a duvet day. I have to wait til dh picks a test up on his way home from work as I can't be bothered to drag the dcs out to get one.
On a positive note I'm feeling a bit crampy and eurgh this morning so hopefully I may be getting a period soon?

OP posts:
Ilovenannyplum · 24/08/2015 14:44

Buttercup the wait must be killing you!

Buttercup27 · 24/08/2015 14:53

Yep but I feel shattered (and both dc have fallen asleep ) so I'm off for a nap and hope it will eat up some time.
If I'm not pregnant it's a horrible virus .

OP posts:
Ilovenannyplum · 24/08/2015 15:40

Really hope you're feeling back to yourself soon :(

Buttercup27 · 25/08/2015 15:00
