Bump measuring small at 28wk midwife appointment

Had my 28wk midwife appointment today and she measured bump and said I'm measuring 25! She's referring me for growth scan, at my 20wk scan Baby was bang on the Middle line, now not even at the bottom line on the chart... anyone else had this?

Yes I have. Bump was measuring around 25/26 weeks at my 28 weeks appointment so I had a growth scan a few days later where he actually measured 5 days ahead.

At 30 weeks my bump was still measuring 2/3 weeks behind so I had to have another growth scan, which again showed baby measuring ahead of my dates.

I have another midwife appointment tomorrow and I just know I'm going to be referred for another growth scan.

The midwife said its not the most accurate way of measuring if that's true why do they do it? can't wait for my scan to come through now..

Yes I believe it's a well known fact that they can often be wrong. I don't understand why even after two scans now showing he is measuring just fine that they are making such a big deal about it. I have more faith in a high tech mega expensive ultrasound machine than I do a tatty old tape measure. All these extra scans and appointments are incredibly annoying as I'm having to catch 3 buses just to get there with my 19mo DS in tow.

I had an average sized baby with a small bump twice, got sent for growth scans both times. I'm 5 ft 9 and apparently this gives a baby plenty of place to hide.

I got told this at 28 weeks, had a growth scan a few weeks later. Baby was 8lb 13oz at birth, not exactly small! I'd try not to worry about it.

At 28 weeks was measuring small at 24cm and at 30 weeks was 25 so went for growth scan, which showed baby was bang on average. At 36 weeks was measuring 31 so midwife sent me for another scan- not to make me worry but just to make sure baby was growing properly.

This time baby had slipped down the charts to just 20th centile. They weren't worried though because baby still growing...

I kinda liked the reassurance- that they are making sure everything is OK...

Just to update you, I had my 31w MW app on Monday and my fundal height was measuring at 28w (so still 3 weeks behind) I had a growth scan today and baby is measuring bang on track and the technician had no concerns at all.
