Early pregnancy cramping

I found out Sunday (2nd Aug) just gone that I am pregnant with my first baby. My period isn't due till 7/8th Aug so it's very early. I've been getting period pains and am starting to worry that it could be something bad. They do sort of come and go. But when it hurts, it hurts for ages. I did mention it to the doctor but he was less then helpful and didn't give me an answer/explaintion.
I've tried for so long for this pregnancy I'm not peterfied that something will happen. I keep taking tests to double check.
Has anyone had similar pains or experiences. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I think this is normal. I had period-like cramps for a few weeks after I found out I was pregnant. If there's no bleeding I wouldn't worry.

As soon as baby implants your uterus starts doing crazy stuff so I wouldn't worry too much - it sounds pretty normal. I had cramps on and off throughout my first and part of my second trimester. Sometimes they were proper achy period type cramps. Other times they were heavy tugging type cramps. It's just your body adjusting. :)

I get them too, actually delayed testing because I was sure my period was on its way. I told my midwife and she wasn't phased at all just said get used to it. I think the advice is as long as there is no bleeding or pain worse than period pain then it's fine. There was one night I had a hot flash and bad pain but (tmi) think it was down to constipation more than baby.

I wouldn't worry, I'm still getting them on and off at 8+ 4. I do generally get bad period cramps at my totm, thought getting rid of them for 9 months was one of the main advantages, bit disappointed really lol.

Try not to worry - I had them too... I'm current 32 +5 and all is well.

I had awful cramps when I was that stage. It's your uterus adjusting, or something like that. I'm 7 weeks now and get less cramping but it still really hurts sometimes!

It can be totally normal, I am 16 weeks now.
But in the first few weeks I had awful cramps, to the point it hurt to even walk.
Obviously if you worried about anything then chat to your GP.

Iv been getting period like cramping for the last 4 days had sex 6 days ago but not due on for another 2wks could this be a sign

I was the same as sweetilemon, I had those pains and thought my period was starting. I took a pregnancy test a week later when I hadn't had one. I also had those pains between about 7-8 weeks which I found out is common too with the changes happening to your body

I had horrible, low-down cramps from about 4 weeks through to week 7 when they disappeared on their own. They were worse than period cramps (although my period cramps were never very bad ordinarily), really stopped me in my tracks sometimes. But since I never had any bleeding whatsoever, it was nothing to worry about. Just my uterus going 'what the hell is happening!?'. I'm 18 weeks with my first now. Good luck!

Thank you for all the comments. Has made me feel a little at ease. I have nausea and a tummy ache (under the ribs) to add to my list now. Not a nice feeling. Hopefully after 12 weeks this will all go away :(
