moses basket vs cot. First baby and baffled!

Expecting DC #1 and I'm baffled by sleeping options. Keep thinking that a moses basket seems a waste of money for such a short space of time. Could baby go straight into a cot in our room overnight and sleep in pram carrycot in the day?

Interested to hear others experience and what products you'd recommend! Trying to make sensible choices and not be too 'PFB'.

A cot wouldn't fit in our room. DD was in her Moses basket until 6 months so it was worth the money for us.

We used a cot for night time sleeps from day one, I swaddled ds to help him feel more secure. During the day he mainly napped in my arms/sling.

Cot here from day 1 and pram carrycot (uppababy) downstairs during the day. I found DS was feeding non-stop so once he looked for a feed around 9/10pm I'd bring him up to our bed and feed him there then pop him into his cot beside our bed. More often than not he'd end up in the bed at some stage of the night anyway!

I'm pregnant at the moment and DS will still be in his cot when the new baby arrives so I'm trying to figure out what to get. I think I might just bite the bullet and buy another cot as then we won't be under any pressure to move DS out of his after 6 months.

Hi Melonface
My daughter loved her Moses basket.
I'm going get another one for this baby so he/she can be close and easy to do the super quick shift from those constant night time feeds in my bed back in to the basket, hopefully undisturbed.
Also my OH's snoring is loud enough to wake the dead so want to be able to move baby and me into spare room without too much hassle.
Also putting basket in cot so they get used to it is a good idea.
Good luck

We have a bednest for DD but she's only been sleeping in for the last 2 nights as before she would only sleep in our bed within touching distance of me! She's now 15 weeks.

Daytime naps are on me/in a sling. I think some babies are a bit clingier than others!
