Reflexology to bring on labour

Hi ladies

Looking for your experiences with reflexology if you've been overdue.

I'm 41 + 1 now and was told yesterday that my cervix is still high and closed. My midwife told me to give reflexology ago and my hypnobirthing coach recommended one to me. Anyone have any success with it? Especially if your cervix wasn't ready the day before?!

No. Reflexology is woo. No evidence at all it works. inserts usual polemic about evidence based medicine

There, that's the grumpy bit out of the way :) hope your baby arrives soon! I'm an uncomfortable grumpy, massive git at just 6 months so goodness knows what I'll be like if I'm overdue.....

Don't do it. I'm still waiting coney. 40+2 now and unbelieveably grumpy. I'm prepared to shell out a couple of quid on raspberry tea (which involved my scientist dp having to go into Holland and Barrett-not pretty!), bounce on a birthing ball, eat curry (which I love anyway) and go for walks but even as I'm doing them in my heart of hearts I know it's bollocks and she'll come when she comes.
There are only two things I know of that start labour; syntocinon and being around 9 months pregnant.

Ah I'm just as grumpy. I went to my appointment anyway and it was lovely and relaxing if nothing else. She made the mistake of yelling me I'd be in labour by the early hours. Going to take that with a punch of salt. Haha.

Hello no experience directly but my hospital offers holistic therapies once you're overdue I can't remember if it's reflexology or acupressure but my midwife said it's led to a 30% decrease in inductions so.There is perhaps something in it? Hope all goes well x

Its bullshit, but very enjoyable. My reflexologist (had some free sessions via my midwife team) told me twice when I was overdue 'I wont be seeing you next time'. She saw me next time twice before she stopped making predictions.

I had reflexology to try and bring on labour with DS. Sadly, it didn't do anything, but I loved it - definitely would recommend it, even if it doesn't work, just for the relaxation. Good luck!

Yeah like I said above I went to my appointment and it was lovely but definitely £60 I could have done without spending.

Coney you poor thing, it is miserable. At risk of getting your hopes up weepy can be a sign of things being imminent-ish. You are allowed to behave as badly as you like when over due btw!

Thank you whatabout I really didn't expect to go over which was stupid. I have been weepy for days so maybe it's not a sign but then again I'll take anything!

The more overdue I'm going the more shit scared nervous im getting about the birth which is making me even more weepy.I just hope he or she comes before they start putting pressure on me to be induced. I have opted for monitoring at the moment but apart of me thinks it would be nice to know when it's going to come to an end.
