Hi ladies,

I am 40 weeks today and despite people telling me ill just know I was wondering whether your labours started with period type pains? Been having them on and off since 2pm and before today they have been continuous pains but today they are intermittent and I think they are getting more painful.

Am I just getting my hopes up?

All three of my labours started with period pains :)

Good luck!

coneywonder · 08/07/2015 21:41

Thank you will start timing them soon. Although it feels like they are dying now a bit.

Does it matter that they're not too painful?

!!!!!

Don't worry, they'll get more painful as they progress :)

coneywonder · 08/07/2015 21:55

No haha it doesn't matter but it's making me doubt if it's the real thing. Not had one for about half an hour now :(

Get some sleep. That's how mine started and I wish I'd gone to bed earlier - as I was awake through the night in the end. Good luck Smile

coneywonder · 08/07/2015 22:01

Thanks petalandstars I will do

coney fingers crossed you'll get to meet your little one soon. Go for a brisk walk today - that should help things progress.

PerspicaciaTick · 09/07/2015 07:49

All the pains and cramps are getting things ready, they aren't wasted. Keep moving and good luck.

5YearsTime · 09/07/2015 07:54

That's exactly how my labour started

Monday - mild period pains, like a bit of a dodgy belly
Tuesday - bug cramps and a show very early morning
Wednesday - early a.m a few mild contractions, enough to wake me and not let me sleep, period pains all day off and on with another few contractions, waters went that night and baby born the next day.

coneywonder · 09/07/2015 08:05

All is not lost then. Just very disheartening when you think that's it!

Maybe take a walk and see if they start up again Flowers

Excitedmummytobe00 · 09/07/2015 09:02

coney Try a nice walk uphill if you can manage it and also get bouncing on your ball, hopefully the end is nigh for you Grin

coneywonder · 09/07/2015 09:05

I will do thanks. Hopefully not no!!

I had a few weeks of really good going BH/period pains with DC4 every evening that I really wondered whether it was labour starting. It was pretty disappointing to wake up each morning realising that I hadn't gone into labour, but when I did it was pretty short (officially 33 minutes) and very easy, both my quickest and easiest. Hope you don't have the long wait but hope you have the easy labour.

hugoagogo · 09/07/2015 09:14

You will not be pregnant forever

coneywonder · 09/07/2015 09:36

Thank you dino I hope so too be nice not to have a long labour but my midwife thinks baby is back to back so I may be in for a long one!

I had contractions at night for three nights. It sucked getting my hopes up every night! Sweep done on the third morning and contractions started again. I was at home for 10 hours with contractions slowly strengthening. Took 3 hours to get from 3cm to 10cm and 2 hours of pushing. That's with a first DC!
I know DD was back to back for part of it, which is why I pushed for as long as I did. The midwife had me in loads of different positions trying to help her turn. Saying that she turned towards the end. Your baby could still turn and you can still have a quick active stage!

coneywonder · 09/07/2015 12:48

Thanks lilac you've made me hopeful!

I have a sweep booked for next Wednesday but hopefully I'll go before that x

Period and back pains here for the last 2 nights, enough to keep me awake and wake me up at some points. Going to bed with a dodgy tummy and feeling very sick and uncomfortable but waking up feeling fine!

Only 38 weeks here with dc2 but impatient and hypersensitive to any symptom of things kicking off!

Dd started with a show/plug at 40 weeks which quickly progressed to period pains and she was born 10 hours later. All cramps are good cramps! Even if they don't feel it WinkFlowers

TwartFaceBeetj · 09/07/2015 13:05

Start spending time on your hands and knees, that's suppose to help turn the baby if they are back to back.

coneywonder · 09/07/2015 13:12

I have been trying to be on my hands and knees but it hurts my pelvis so much. I have SPD. Going to try and tough it out though.
