ligament pain and pulled muscles

Hi again,

Sorry to keep asking questions, it's my second pregnancy but I swear it wasn't this hard first time (possibly the toddler I'm still racing about after has something to do with this). I've been having aches in my lower back and belly the last couple of days and I'm 33 weeks pregnant. It eases when I sit propped up, or lie with my bump supported so I'm fairly sure it's ligament pain. It's coincided with baby moving too and feels a bit tender when he stretches. Add to this I went on a picnic yesterday and sat on a rug for over an hour, where I seem to have pulled some muscles in my back, bottom and legs. So, apart from just sitting, and warm baths any tips? I can't constantly sit with a toddler but don't know if there 's anything else I can do?

Feeling totally sorry for myself, sore, can't sleep and tearful!

Cheers in advance!

Good grief don't sit on the floor for an hour! I have had ligament pain on and off throughout this pregnancy. It's my second too (ds is 18 months) and I thought that it would make everything easier (wrong). I sort of imagined it would be like blowing up a a balloon-easier second time. Apparently the supporting ligaments and muscles aren't as supportive after being stretched the first time and women often find it harder the second time round (that and the toddler of course). The only thing I've found to help has been massaging where it hurts with cocoa butter, like you would if your muscles hurt when you're not pregnant. It made the baby kick a lot thought so I don't think she was terribly impressed.

That's an idea! Yeah, I'm regretting that sitting on the floor now, I don't think I realised the impact it would have! I've even text my midwife desperate for tips. Must be showing something on my face as my 2 year 8 month old has said a couple of times I need a little rest! Haha! Hardly slept last night for pain and really struggling today. Suspect hubby was glad to be going to work!

Have you tried bouncing and Rocking on a birthing ball, that eases the pain for me a bit.
