Hi, I'm pretty sure it's Occupational Maternity Pay. So basically the pay that your work will pay you and SMP is Statutory Maternity Pay.

Smp = statutory maternity pay omp = occupational maternity pay.

SMP is statutory maternity pay. OMP is occupationAl maternity pay, which your employer pays.

Does it mean I get both at the same time ??

Check your contract of employment or staff handbook for what you'll get. Your HR or Payroll dept will also be able to tell you.

You'll get SMP if you earn over £111 per week and were employed before you got pregnant. The direct.gov website will tell you more. It's currently 90% of your average earnings for 6 weeks then £139.58 a week for 33 weeks, unless 90% is less than that.

Omp is ordinary maternity pay
Eligible employees can take up to 52 weeks' maternity leave. The first 26 weeks is known as 'Ordinary Maternity Leave', the last 26 weeks as 'Additional Maternity Leave'. The earliest that leave can be taken is 11 weeks before the expected week of childbirth, unless the baby is born early.

Hope that helps

Hi, just to clarify it is Occupational Maternity Pay... This up to date gov link will explain everything for you www.gov.uk/government/publications/maternity-benefits-technical-guidance/maternity-benefits-technical-guidance

Whatabout · 06/06/2015 22:49

Cheshire that would be OML and AML not SMP and OMP

Purpleball · 06/06/2015 22:56

Normally OMP is topping up SMP so if you get the 6 weeks at higher then 12 weeks of half pay (a common OMP amount) the half pay will include £139.58. You should check with your employer though as the only entitlement by law is SMP
