social media announcement?

We've just found out we are expecting baby #3. with my last two I never had social media so this wasn't a problem. We've both got lots of family abroad that we keep in touch with over Facebook. I'd love a cute baby announcement idea for after my scan other than just posting the photo. how did everyone announce there's? x

I know someone who posted a photo of each member of her family next to their shoes and a pair of baby booties next to the scan picture, was very creative after others just posting pictures of scans?

SurlyCue · 31/05/2015 14:36

What do you mean by 'cute'? Do you mean cringey and twee? Couldnt you just say "Dh and I are very excited that baby no 3 will arrive at X month etc"

themumfairy · 31/05/2015 14:36

sounds lovely. I've just joined pinterest which is so good for things like this. this will probably be my last pregnancy so I really want to enjoy it and make sure I remember it x

Surly that's very rude.

She didn't ask what people thought, she asked for cute ideas.

My friend took a pic of her dd in a 'Big sister' t shirt and everyone kinda figured

batfish · 31/05/2015 14:46

If you have other kids then I've seen some cute announcements involving them such as them holding signs saying 'I'm going to be a big brother/sister'. I was going to suggest checking pinterest but it looks like you're on it! We were going to do a Facebook thing too but never got round to it and now I'm 22 weeks, oops!

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 31/05/2015 14:46

I know a couple who had a photo of their children holding signs. Big brother for the eldest, then little sister for the next, crossed out and 'big sister' written over the top. Was quite cute.

Put up 20 wk scan pic with the caption: "I can't believe I ate the whole thing..." Grin

Its not rude. I asked for clarification on what she meant by cute and if that meant cringey and twee, which is what many of these announcements turn out to be. I would rather advise on avoiding cringey and twee which is why i asked. You will also note i did offer a suggestion.

Nope, still rude.

Why have you name changed?

themumfairy · 31/05/2015 15:11

Haha I thought it was rude too. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though.

We only have close friends and family on Facebook and instead of telling them all individually I thought this way they'd all find out together. Obviously all our closest family already know. I wanted to do something other than just a photo because I want to. Smile

Not rude.

I changed for another thread and forgot to change back. How is that relevant?

Raffertys · 31/05/2015 15:16

'I can't believe I ate the whole thing'

I'm so using that when I hit 12 weeks.

applecore0317 · 31/05/2015 15:17

There are some great ideas on pinterest for pregnancy announcements :)

We put a pair of tiny hi top trainers (think we picked them up in tesco for £3) in between mine and dp's hi top trainers in front of science books (his) and records (mine) with the caption 'made with music and science' and then a 'coming soon June 2015'.
It's not everyone's taste, but very 'us' and made a change from a scan picture. Weirdly enough I'm not crazy about pictures of my insides being posted on social media.
