Placenta still low at 30 weeks

Hi everyone,

At my 20 week scan my placenta was posterior and low (wasn't told 'how' low) and i'm booked in for another NHS scan at 36 weeks. I'm now 30+3 and went for a private 3d scan yesterday, where they told me that my placenta is still low.
I know it still has time to move and that most do but i'm just interested to hear if anyone else has stories of it either moving or not moving between 30 and 36 weeks?
If it doesnt move, I know they will want to book a c-section which isn't ideal but i've prepared myself for that possibility. My only worry is working...i've read that you can be put on bed rest towards the end but don't know if thats the case in all situations or just the 'worst'. I was planning to work until 37+3. Sorry if this is a silly question!

Thanks!

My placenta was low at 12 wk scan, still low at 20 & 28 wk scan, classed as "major". At 34 weeks, all was totally fine and have gone from c section back to plans for home birth. Hope all turns out okay for you.

Mine was low at 20w scan, am being re scanned tomorrow at 35+ weeks so hope it has moved. I think there is a lot of growth in the last few weeks (hence all the stretch marks arriving!) so there is hope!

I'm am being scanned today at 31 for a posterior low lying placenta so will see if it's moved. I have heard that posterior placentas are less likely to move though...

Am not sure about bed rest but have heard this too - not sure if this only happens after a bleed?? Am planning on working till 38 weeks!

Different docs have different views on bed rest I think. Lots do 'restricted activity' now, which is basically taking it easy. Don't chance it though - if they want you to take it easy then do so, work can go jump - your health is more important .
I have a low anterior :( really hoping it moves up before the scan at 32 weeks.

Sorry to be the one with the opposite story. Mine was almost 2cm clear at the 32 week scan, was due to be rescanned at 36 but they thought vaginal birth was on if it continues to move up. Had a large bleed at 35 and DS delivered by emcs. It's a very unpredictable condition unfortunately.
No bed rest here, I was asleep at night when it happened so I'm not convinced that prevents it.
Pack your bag if you haven't already would be my tip, DH tried his best but results were mixed!

Hi Em165 - my placenta has moved and is now over 4cm away. She said you can only tell properly through internal scan though so maybe you'll get better news with that rather than external one you had? Good luck xx

Thanks everyone. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I had a scan today, from being 1.6cm from os at 20w scan it is now 7cm away (at 35w).
