Hi everyone.
I'm 33 weeks pregnant today. I was classed as over weight at the start of my pregnancy, so I am well aware a large weight gain would not be good for me or baby.
I have been keeping a vague eye on my weigh during pregnancy, eating healthy, but definitely eating enough.

I haven't gained any weight now since potentially before 29 weeks. My total weight gain over the entirety of pregnancy is 15lbs.

I told my midwife at 31 weeks appointment that I hadn't gained in a while, she didn't seem at all concerned. Baby is measuring correctly.

I weighed myself again today, and still no weight gain. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I'm a worrier unfortunatley, I just want to do the best for baby!

Thanks in advance ladies Flowers

I put on loads in the second trimester, then lost half a stone between 27 and 29 weeks! I'm now 32+5 and haven't really gained any weight since. Midwife says this is quite common. Baby is measuring spot on for me too. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

If you are eating well and baby continues to grow nicely then all will be fine

I was forever getting told I was "tiny" and gained just under 2st all in all but keeping my small frame and delivered an 8lb 7oz baby Smile with girls I know being much bigger than me and having babies weighing in at 1-3lb lighter than my girl

As long as our midwife isn't concerned I wouldn't be, as long as baby is growing well and moving lots I wouldn't worry.

I'm 32 weeks and have only put on 0.5 lbs but I was classes as obese to begin with anyway, plus I've been v sick.

Lunastarfish · 08/05/2015 08:59

I'm exactly the same! I was overweight at my booking appointment. By the time morning sickness had ended I had lost over a stone and at 30 weeks now the only weight I have gained is the stone I have lost. I discussed it with my midwife at the 28 week appointment but was told it's fine as my bump size is on target.

Will be reading with interest!

How much did you weigh before pregnancy?

Bare in mind that average baby at birth is 7/8lbs. 15lbs is still double that and allows for baby / placenta and some liquid. If you are naturally loosing weight elsewhere also you might be gaining baby stuff but it's evening out.

With ds1 I weighed 7stone 10 beforehand, 9stone 1 day DS was born. So 19lbs gain in 39 weeks. Ds2 was born a year later, weighed 8.2stone at beginning, 9 stone 8 at end so 20lbs gain. So both times not much at all really. They weighed 7lb 8, and 7lb 10 each when born so both good weights still.

Don't worry about it I was overweight at thr start of pregnancy I ended up losing 21lb and never put any on my baby was a healthy 7lb 4oz and I was alot healthier too. If your baby is growing fine then don't worry not every pregnant woman piles on the pounds

hugoagogo · 08/05/2015 09:04

Your baby will take what it needs. I wouldn't worry about it.

I was overweight at the beginning of both my pregnancies and gained less than 2 stone each time, had 9 pound plus healthy babies and ended losing weight over all. and putting it back on

Pregnancysickleave · 08/05/2015 09:05

Thanks ladies, I feel so so much better for hearing your experiences!

I'm glad I'm not piling on the weight because I know it's not good for baby to put on too much weight either.

I was 83kgs at 6 weeks pregnant and now 90 kgs.

You won't gain much in third tri if you were overweight to begin with. Last month baby puts on about one kg, so you're due a bit of a gain at the end.

avocadotoast · 08/05/2015 09:32

I don't think I've gained anything during my third trimester (I'm 38+6). Perhaps 1lb but certainly nothing more than that. Throughout my whole pregnancy I've gained around a stone and half (which is staggering considering the amount of sausage rolls I've put away).

If baby is measuring normally I wouldn't worry about it (though easier said than done I know!).

Emilyjane11 · 08/05/2015 10:15

I had a bmi of 35 pre pregnancy and I am now 31 weeks. I have gained 11lbs so far and actually lost 2lb since 28 weeks but midwife is happy with that and baby is measuring fine. Please don't worry xx

I hardly gained any "me" weight (ie I weighed less at 3 post partum than at booking in) during my first pregnancy. I put it down to not drinking, not eating for two and remaining pretty active. I was probably the healthiest I've been in my adult life during my pregnancy!! This time however....Sad

Roseybee10 · 08/05/2015 13:35

I didn't put on as much in third trimester last time (I did first time but that was fluid)
I put on 23lbs overall but gained most in second trimester and had a good few weeks in third trimester where I didn't gain and even lost.
