Has anyone had crazy high early pregnancy HCG beta?

My Quantative HCG beta at 4 weeks came back at 8987!!! I am in shock, was expecting a negative, I am 44.

LMP was 25/3/15

Dr Google suggesting, molar, ectopic, multiples!!! Will go for 2nd beta in 48 hours however Babymed saying to basically not bother:

"Between 1,200 and 6,000 mIU/ml serum, the hCG usually takes 72-96 hours to double, and above 6,000 mIU/ml, the hCG often takes over four or more days to double. It makes little sense to follow the hCG values above 6,000 mIU/ml as at this point the increase is normally slower and not related to how well the pregnancy is doing."

Trying to stay calm but would welcome any similar experiences and outcomes... I can take it :( thank you

El I got one back at about 5 weeks that was 10x what I was expecting. Panicked like you but 8 months later had one perfectly healthy baby.

My first pregnancy was a complete molar and my levels were over 98,000 at eight weeks. Unfortunately, without a scan you probably won't be able to get any conclusive answers, and I guess this early it might still be difficult to see much. I hope you get some answers soon. If it is a molar and you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Thank you, I am going for 2nd bloods ion Thurs FWIW not sure what that will tell, next step will be a scan, Amaxapax will a scan so early be worth doing or should I wait a week or 2? Take it you had your scan at 8 weeks? Thanks

Trying to stay indifferent, hard, must turn off the ipad...

Thanks again.

I'm not sure what they can see at four weeks. My scan was at eight weeks because I was having almost constant bleeding and felt quite strongly that things weren't right. However, I'm pregnant again and I went for a scan last week when I was just over six weeks and they managed to see a heartbeat (two, actually!). I did ask if there was any evidence of a molar pregnancy and they said no, and that they would have been able to tell by then. Maybe you could arrange a scan for a week's time?

My complete molar was detected at five weeks so they can be spotted early. Fingers crossed for you.

Do you know that your last period was in fact a period? Is there a chance that you're further along than you thought?
