I'm 17 weeks and three days. Last night, I had a dairy-heavy meal. I woke up in the night, bad stomach cramps and basically stuck to the loo for an hour. No temp, no vomiting. No one else who had some was ill. However, I'm concerned this may have had a bad effect on the baby. I haven't felt any definite movement yet, just pinching in my uterus, however depending on the time of day, the baby seems to be more on my right side, then my left. Today, it's not moved from the right, and the 'pinching' is more like a period cramp.

So, am I overreacting? Should I be concerned about anything I mentioned or am I just being paranoid. Just to add, no severe cramps or bleeding, I know those are the main things to look out for.

When l was pregnant with dd1 l had stomach flu and for 48 hours l was violently ill from both ends. I was really worried and crawled to the phone to call my DM on the other side of the world to tell me everything would be fine with my baby!

You may have pulled a muscle but if you're worried call your GP.

If you've had a bad stomach it will feel a little achey for a day or two and can feel like period pains. I had a nasty vomiting bug when I was 19 weeks with horrible cramps, as crap as you feel the baby will have no idea. If you are worried though contact your midwife for reassurance. That's what they are there for :)

Thanks guys, I didn't want to bother a midwife without reason. 20 week scan is three weeks away, so of course it will drag for what seems like three months! I'm wiped out today, but think its due to lack of sleep last night, just feel silly. It's amazing how things I didn't think twice about before now has me panicked. But that's reassuring, although sorry to hear you were so ill! And I don't have a mum to call unfortunately, but the pregnancy forum on here is very good, it's great to know someone on here will have had experience Smile.

I'm 30 weeks and have had the exact same thing as you since last week. My gp so suspected food poisoning but my test results have come back clear so I'm thinking its stress related. Hope you feel better soon xx

I had food poisoning twice when pregnant with DS2 and he is fine. Make sure you keep hydrated, lots of fluids.

I was 17 weeks pregnant with dc3 when I contracted swine flu. I was constantly vomiting, so much so that I twisted my gullet. I started having tightenings, they were really painful, ended up in a&e. Totally panicked, I was sobbing thinking she wouldn't stick. They checked her heart rate for a while, all was fortunately fine. She's nearly 5 now no damage done.

Keep yourself really well hydrated and when you start eating go for bland, small and often.
