Insane hunger in early pregnancy

I'm not sure how pregnant I am - max 8 weeks, minimum 5 ish. For the past week I've been beyond hungry. Nothing fills me up and I just want to eat rubbish. I normally eat quite small portions and generally watch what I eat. This is dc3 and I lost a lot after dc2. I'm really wary of gaining unnecessary weight so not sure what to do. Any advice or tips?! I feel like I've gained loads already as haven't been able to exercise as been poorly. Bleurgh. I don't remember this with previous two babies.

I am exactly the same as you. Always hungry, nothing makes me feel full either and I don't know what to do about it! I feel like I've already got a bump due to the bloating etc and I'm only 9+3!

Same here, I can't stop snacking. But think of it this way, it better than being sick and not able to look at food or keep anything down, this way at least baby gets all the nutrients! Only make sure you don't go crazy on sweets.

Eat if you are hungry. The baby is growing incredibly fast at this stage so I don't think the hunger is surprising. It will settle down later on when you can't eat much without feeling full.

I was exactly the same, I ate us out of house and home for a few weeks, it stopped as quick as it started for me so fingers crossed it'll just get better for you. I'm 14 weeks now an for the last couple of weeks can't hardly eat anything.

Sorry I missed the bit where you saying you only want to eat rubbish food... Well the best advise on this would be don't keep any junk/sweets at home, that's the only thing that works for me. I know it's bad but I've even thrown things in the bin at times, just to avoid temptation to eat them! (Dp is indifferent to cakes/chocolates)

Chickenandpenguin · 16/04/2015 20:19

I think I am going to have to throw everything away! Problem bring that I get dizzy if I don't eat every hour or so. Rubbish.
I hadn't thought of it being the baby growing as its so tiny. Though my stomach is not tiny, I swear I look massive already!

I had this for the entire first trimester. SO HUNGRY. I gained over a stone.

Then, in the second trimester I had LOADS of energy and found it hard to fit full sized meals into me, so I only gained a kilo.

I reckon that the best thing to do it to just try to eat as healthy as you can and not stress out too much about it.

Choccyhobnob · 17/04/2015 11:48

I was so so hungry for the first trimester! Would wake up in the night with my stomach rumbling! Coupled with being too tired to exercise I think I've put on quite a lot (although scales have broken so absolutely no idea). The last 6 weeks I have the odd hungry day but don't feel quite so bad and now bump is showing I feel more pregnant and less fat!

Chickenandpenguin · 17/04/2015 15:52

Have given in to it today and eaten Easter eggs and bacon sandwiches. Figure I can have one bad day a week...
