Maternity work trousers! I found the perfect pair!

Just that really.

Good fit, over the bump, cigarette style, ankle grazer cut, so looks good with both flats and heels. And, most importantly, NOT made out of fabric that generates electricity while you're going about your business.

They're from Seraphine (tailored, cropped, maternity trousers, £49). I realise not everyone is happy to spend the money but for the love of god I am just so happy that there is finally something that looks good and fits me well!!

I also tried the pair from Isabella Oliver. The fit was AWFUL. Do you remember the time when those ski type leggings were in? (I am talking early 80s here) Well, that were them. Too tight and too long!

Seraphine also has another pair of black trousers that are on sale, in their 'luxe range'. They didn't suit me at all. Not fitted and too long.

There, I will stop talking now. Honest.

Very excited to hear the seraphine trousers fit as I have just ordered some- not found any work trousers that fit/ are decent fabric. I await the their delivery with anticipation! !

What colour? I just bought a very similar sounding pair in navy from Seraphine which I'M IN LOVE WITH!!

I've been spending an arm and a leg on maternity wear because I can (sort of-ish) afford it and I just can't bear feeling rubbish about what I'm wearing for weeks on end! Harrods maternity boutique, Seraphine, Jojo, Maman, Bebe and long tops and maxi-dresses from Anthropologie . . . phew! Much better!

I have some asos ones that are great- ankle grazers with elastic panels at the side really generously sized too.

Dildals · 16/04/2015 20:14

lorelei I bought the black ones. But yes, they have them in navy too. Harrods? I didn't even know they did maternity! Anthropologie? Man, that's inspired!! I personally never got on with JJMB, but that's just me!

frangipani Ah, I saw those. I was specifically looking for over the bump ones so that's why I discounted those. Also, I got a maternity dress from Asos (the one with the polka dots) and the quality was so appalling that it put me off tbh! But I remember scoring some good stuff from Asos for my first pregnancy!

I got some over bump ones from h&m shockingly bad fit and the band was really unflattering! Would love to get the ones from seraphine but can't really justify the cost when we have all the baby stuff yet to buy!

Dildals · 16/04/2015 21:29

Yes I totally understand and I was exactly the same first time round.

We've got all the baby stuff already now and I am happy spending a bit of money on the mat clothes. I felt awful about myself for weeks on end and finding a pair of trousers or a nice dress makes me feel so much better! This pregnancy is pretty tough for me, so ANYTHING that makes me feel better is incredibly welcome!

Harrods stock Blossom maternity wear which includes (as well as own brand clothes) some really nice bits from M by Missoni, See by Chloe also (amazing!) maternity jeans from 7 For All Mankind, J. Brand etc. Anthropologie are brilliant! Also for non-maternity maternity wear, I've done really well from Jigsaw and Mint Velvet. I really need to stop shopping.... It just seemed like a really good reason to buy a whole new summer wardrobe!

You need to stop telling me this lorelei … my anthropologie order is on its way …. :-)

I just had a look at the blossom website … I love the ISSA dresses and the kimonos! I thought I was extravagant thinking a pair of leather leggings would be an acceptable maternity wear purchase, but you are taking it to another level!! Love your work!

I felt so ill for the first 19 weeks of my pregnancy that I was pretty much in pjs the whole time. I think I got so over-excited when I started feeling better that I went a bit mad with the shopping! But it really did cheer me up a lot! And the Anthropologie stuff is so easily justified - it's not even maternity wear so you can wear it long after the baby comes! Very good use of money!
