I have my 12 week scan on thur. When the midwife booked the appt she also booked me in to see the consultant after the scan.
I've had nothing official through the post confirming I have an appt. I'm sure I had a confirmation letter for the consultant with my last pregnancy. Just don't want to turn up thur & they know nothing about me!
Did anyone else just have to turn up?

I got a letter through for a consultant appointment, and the date for the appointment was for three months after my scan. Presume it depends why you are being referred

I was referred to a consultant at my scan in January, received a letter at the end of February for an appointment in April.

I've got my scan on Tuesday and a cons app an hour or so after. The MW called and booked it during my booking in appt with her. I've had no letter about either, just got the scan form with it written on...

Give the antenatal clinic a ring, they should be able to tell you. I've had lots of hassle with consultant appointments and have found it very confusing. The reception staff have been helpful though.

I'm consultant led - twins and a few complications. I never have a letter at all for any of my appointments, including some specialists ones too (Derby hospitals).

I just have the dates written on the back of my pregnancy book. I just show up for the scans, then afterwards walk to an adjacent waiting area to wait for a consultant to discuss things afterwards.

But like pp suggests, if I ever have a query regarding appointments I just call the antenatal clinic or my midwife and they check things out for me, so probably worth doing that

At my hospital when you have your first scan you go to the antenatal clinic for bloods and then wait to see a consultant if needed too. I will see them about every four weeks but they will make each appointment after my first so no need for letters. Your hospital may do the same.

I'm consultant led with identical twins.
I got a letter but I didn't meet my consultant til I was 22 weeks, I never see the same consultant but I always get a letter.

Thanks for the replies. Seems everywhere does things differently. Bex I'm in derby too! Obviously standard not to send letters here!

I'm supposed to be seeing a consultant but have heard nothing so far. I'm 16 weeks at the moment.

It must be a Derby thing then WillowB!

If your midwife has booked in your scan and says you have a consultant appointment too and has marked it down on the back of your book, then that should all be sorted out on your behalf with no confirming letters.

When you get to DRI use carpark 6, head round the left hand corner of the building and use the entrance about 50m up on the right. The antenatal scan department is the first right. You walk straight through a waiting room, past the first reception desk and carry on until there's like a big hatch opening in the wall on your right. Go past the hatch and through the first double doors on the right and there's the scan waiting room :) You might know that already as its not your first but there you go just in case as I got totally lost on my first visit!

After my 12wks scan they did my downs screening bloods as well straight afterwards. Then once you've had your bloods they tell you to go to the large waiting room you walked through to get to the scan department and you basically take a seat and wait your turn to see the consultant. Be warned - at my 12wk appointment i had 5mins wait for my scan, 15mins wait for my bloods and then a 2hr wait to see the consultant!!

Good luck and congrats :)
