14 weeks pregnant but measuring 9

Just had our booking scan.
I'm feeling very worried as the baby is measuring over a month behind where it should be. I had an early scan due to anxiety to put my mind at ease so going by the size at the first scan the baby should be 14/15 weeks. I'm waiting for a neonatal appointment to determine the actual due date.. Can they really consider moving my date back by 5 weeks? Anyone experienced similar? X

Hi, couldn't just read and run.

Was the baby formed, moving and heartbeat seen?

Did the sonographer note any issues or refer you to see anyone?

This must be worrying for you, I have had my dates changed back and forth by a week, and heard of some being moved by 2 but not 5.

Hopefully someone will come along with a positive story Flowers

They said they baby looked normal and healthy for 9 weeks but they know I'm further along. Our dd was born at 41+5 weighing 5lbs 9 so I'm trying to convince myself the baby might just be small like her but I think this early on isn't good

I'm not an expert at all, but I would say if they have said the baby is normal and healthy for 9 weeks I would try not to worry too much.

You have had small babies (really quite small at under 6lb for over term) so that in itself would probably ease my worry a little.

I am the opposite, I have been dated a week ahead (I am defo not a week ahead as I had progesterone tests which showed no ovulation) and my babies have both been big, so I am just assuming this one is also bigger so has been dated ahead. Also measuring two weeks bigger on the tape measure pointless thing too!

Try not to stress, just keep doing what you are doing and growing your tiny but perfect baby.

I assume they have scheduled you for an NT scan?

That tape thing seems ridiculous to me, how on earth can that be accurate?!
Thanks for the reassurance. Hopefully just another small baby and nothing to worry about. Wishing you all the best with your lo too xx

How many weeks were you at the early scan and what did they see? I think it's more likely that scan was inaccurate if done very early, though to be 5 weeks out would be unusual. I hope they can clear things up at your appt.

Early scan they thought I was 4 and today was 10 weeks later..

Didn't see much at the early scan, it was internal so was just a black smudge
